We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful LJ OnTheBiLL. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with LJ below.
LJ, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
Collaboration & Discovery. I really enjoy collaborating with other creatives and I really enjoy discovering new things. Collaborating with other minds & discovering new interesting things just opens up a whole new world, every time. It’s exciting & refreshing. And we can all do it, whether it’s scrolling on social media or going for a walk outside.. Collaboration & Discovery constantly puts me in a space to keep my creativity alive.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
It’s always been my top priority to keep the fun & integrity flowing at my functions. And with over 20 years of DJ’n & Hosting radio & live events, my people have always walked away with more than what they walked in with. I still enjoy putting huge smiles on my clients faces when DJn for them.
I’m in a space now where I want to share my information & the things that I learned along the way, with others.
And that’s important for me, because #1, I got knocked down a lot & got back up twice as much!! And I think I’m still here today, to not hoard that information, but to spread the awareness to a new generation of DJ’s chasing their dreams.
#2 We living in an information driven society. And I believe I have some valuable information (from experience) to offer to the world. Even more valuable than my Dj’n.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Imma break it down like this. I’ll give you 1 quality, 1 skill & 1 area of knowledge that was extremely impactful to me & my journey.
1 Skill is “Remaining Coachable”. I’m a student always, whether Im the oldest or youngest in the room. Whether I’m the more experienced or the amateur. It don’t matter, I’m always going to be a student.
1 Quality (or 2) is Consistency & Resilience. What didn’t happen on Monday, might happen on Tuesday. So you got to keep trying. And when I’ve reached a mountain top, a lot of times I’ve rolled down from off that hill. And I’ve had to pick myself back up & climb up the next hill.
1 Area of Knowledge is “People” – because of my diverse background, I’ve learned how to communicate & navigate with all kinds of different people. And it has always aided me in my journey, especially in music & entertainment community.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m most definitely looking for folks to partner with. That can be other DJ’s, creatives, influencers & other brands to align myself with & definitely tech companies. I have desire for that.
I’d like to grow the beautiful list of corporate partners who I work with.
I’d like to connect with more Dj’s, Producer & Artist.
And it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t mention that I’m working on the Remix of my 1st single “Dance Girl”, which is available on all streaming platforms right now
And I also just landed my 1st album placement as a producer & writer, on “This World Is Not My Home” by a very dope Christian Hip Hop artist out of LA, named “I.T. Official”. The track I produced & wrote on is “Mirrors”. Its a banger & we’re really proud of it. I hope it can help a lot of people with their journey & wherever they’re at in life.
So I’m looking to keep all this productivity & good results flowing on regular basis.
