We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Adrian Clarke a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Adrian, so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?
I stopped comparing myself to others in my field and accepted that my journey is different from everyone else’s. Quality of what I put out is more important than quantity, but it’s nice to have a balance.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I model, dance, act and do photography as well. I enjoy being in front and behind the camera as well as a part of the end result.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Properly planning a shoot or project, knowing what I’m getting into. Having decent knowledge of editing/ retouching.
Knowing the style and how to shoot based on product, service and clientele.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My best friends; Xavier Bryan @Xbryanphoto Richard Palmer and Travis Petrie. They were the ones that helped me with my first set of shoots, whether as a model or photographer, they saw value in me before I did. They motivated me to master self portraiture and photography to always be self sufficient.
