Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Alexandrea. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittany, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?
Growing up with an entrepreneurial father was like having a front-row seat to a dynamic life of creativity and risk-taking. His passion for building something from the ground up instilled in me a sense of resilience and an adventurous spirit. Witnessing the highs and lows of entrepreneurship shaped my mindset, teaching me the value of hard work, innovation, and the courage to pursue my own endeavors.
Taking risks is like building a muscle for me—it demands intentional effort and practice. I start small, gradually exposing myself to situations where the stakes are a bit higher than usual. This helps build my confidence and comfort in handling uncertainty.
I also shift my perspective on failure, seeing it as a stepping stone to success and a natural part of the risk-taking journey. Setting clear goals and visualizing success make the process more purposeful, while surrounding myself with supportive people provides reassurance. Learning from both successes and failures, challenging my comfort zones regularly, and practicing mindfulness help me navigate risks with a clearer mindset.
Ultimately, I celebrate each courageous step, recognizing that becoming comfortable with risk is a gradual process that requires patience and self-acknowledgment.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a photographer specializing in weddings, lifestyle & editorial work. While my base is in Florida and The Bahamas, I am delighted to serve any destination, ready to capture meaningful moments wherever they may unfold. My style can be summed up in three words: refined, timeless, and elegant.
What truly fuels my passion in my craft is the chance to capture those unspoken, spontaneous emotions and experiences that unfold—whether during weddings or any significant milestone. It’s about encapsulating memories and emotions that will be cherished across generations.
In the coming months, I anticipate the launch of a fine art print gallery, featuring images from my personal travel experiences. It’s a visual storytelling journey, bringing to life the diverse beauty of different places and cultures. I aim to provide viewers with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the richness of these moments, adding vibrancy and depth to their personal spaces through high-quality art prints.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I consider myself to be in the early phases of my journey. Thus far, the most influential aspects have been embracing a growth mindset, nurturing resilience and adaptability, and gaining insight into business principles. For those at the outset of their journey, I offer the following advice for enhancing and developing these qualities:
1. Mindset: Cultivate a growth mindset. Embrace challenges as opportunities to learn, stay curious, and don’t fear mistakes—they’re stepping stones to progress. Surround yourself with positive influences, seek out learning experiences, and remember that progress is a process. Celebrate small wins along the way, and don’t be too hard on yourself. The mindset you bring to your journey can be your most valuable asset.
2. Adaptability: The journey of an artist and entrepreneur is filled with ups and downs. Developing resilience to bounce back from setbacks and adaptability to changing circumstances is vital. Embrace failures as learning opportunities, and be flexible in adjusting your strategies based on evolving trends, technologies, and market demands. The ability to persevere through challenges is key to sustained success.
3. Business Acumen: Develop a solid understanding of business principles. As creative individuals, we frequently take on the role of entrepreneurs, overseeing our careers, promoting our work, and managing financial aspects. Knowing how to navigate the business side of your artistic endeavors, including budgeting, marketing, and networking, is crucial for long-term success.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
I’ve been immersed in the wisdom of “A Happy Pocket Full of Money” by David Cameron Gikandi for the past month. Here are a few golden insights that have deeply resonated with me:
“You need not predict exactly how things will work out; all you need to do is desire, intend, and know it’s possible–and it will be arranged to come to you.”
“Thoughts attract like thoughts. Souls attract like souls. Minds attract like minds. It is a reciprocating dance. That is how it works.”
“Gratitude for all things in the past, present, and future works wonders.”
