Meet Lisa Hirsch-Solomon

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lisa Hirsch-Solomon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lisa below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Lisa with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
It’s quite simple — I attribute it to my parents. In my view, you’re either born with a natural inclination to work hard, or you’re not. I’ve been a ‘worker’ for as long as I can remember. To the chagrin of my mother, my younger brother and I would set up shop on the sidewalk, selling her jewelry, our dolls, and various odds and ends from a very tender age. This entrepreneurial spirit set the foundation for my work ethic.
At the age of 14, I took my first official job at a clothing store. Soon after, I became a camp counselor, a role that not only taught me how to care for others but also expanded my life experiences.

From my mom, I learned valuable life lessons: always make your own money, be kind, work diligently, and show up no matter what. She instilled in me the idea that even if a job didn’t seem like a perfect fit, it was worth giving it at least a year, and when you leave, do so gracefully, providing a two-week notice, and never burning bridges.

My father, now in his seventies, continues to practice dentistry and teaches at NYU. His dedication to his work is a testament to what keeps him youthful.

In essence, I’m a product of their wisdom and values. My parents’ influence has not only shaped my work ethic but has also guided me towards a life where hard work, kindness, and commitment to your passions are celebrated and cherished.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At The Studio (MDR), we’re not just in the business of fitness; we’re in the business of transformation. What makes our studio special is that it’s not merely a place to work out – it’s a sanctuary where like-minded individuals come together to embark on a journey toward their personal fitness goals. It’s a place where vulnerability, motivation, honesty, and freedom reign, free from judgment. We provide a safe space that nurtures not only the body but also the soul.

The heart of our mission is to empower individuals to improve their overall health by pushing past their perceived limits and unlocking their ultimate potential. I’ve witnessed firsthand the life-changing impact of this approach. It’s about personal transformation and growth. I underwent a remarkable journey, transitioning from a career in the entertainment industry to a whole new chapter in my life, and it was this transformation that inspired the creation of The Studio (MDR). It’s a testament to the power of what The Studio (MDR) can do – it can help you achieve personal growth and transformation, just as it did for me.

The Lagree Method, our chosen fitness program, plays a pivotal role in this transformation. It challenges us to become better versions of ourselves, guiding us from within and with the incredible support of our teachers and staff. To me, it’s a moving meditation, a practice that keeps me coming back for more.

I’ve always been passionate about fitness, trying a variety of workouts like yoga, jump rope classes, spinning, and more. But it wasn’t until I discovered the Lagree Method over 16 years ago that I knew I had found ‘my workout.’ It’s an intense total body workout that’s not about pain, but about pushing boundaries and embracing ever-changing routines, which keeps boredom at bay.

What truly sets this workout apart is that it benefits a wide cross-section of people. From my mom in Sarasota, Fl, to professional athletes, to women on their pregnancy journeys, the Lagree Method is adaptable and inclusive. I firmly believe that there’s no better, all-encompassing workout out there.

As for what’s new, we continue to innovate and evolve, always striving to provide our community with the best fitness and customer service experience possible. We’re excited about what the future holds and the transformations that lie ahead for all those who walk through our doors.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1) Perseverance: During challenging times, it’s crucial not to give up, even when it feels like you’ve seen the worst. Maintaining an unwavering belief in your product, especially when it aligns with your core values, is essential. For me, the thought of closing The Studio (MDR) and not being able to help people achieve mental, physical, and spiritual well-being would be devastating. My advice is to always stay true to yourself, tap into your inner strength, and when you’re feeling down or lost, remind yourself that you can overcome any challenge if you set your mind to it. If someone says ‘no,’ keep pushing forward until you find the ‘yes.’ Remember, there’s always a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel if you march forward with determination. So, keep moving ahead with unwavering resolve.

2) Kindness: Simple acts of kindness can have a profound impact on someone’s life. You never know what challenges people are facing behind closed doors. A smile, offering water, or giving up your seat can unintentionally alter the course of someone’s day or even their life.

3) Mindful Response: Learning the art of thoughtful response rather than impulsive reaction is a valuable skill. Taking a moment to consider your actions and responses can lead to better outcomes in business and personal interactions. It’s a lesson that can be transformational, much like the slow and deliberate movements on the Megaformer, which provide a more effective workout.

4) Embracing Boldness: Life is fleeting, and tomorrow is uncertain. Taking calculated risks and being bold can lead to extraordinary experiences and personal growth. While there are moments when caution is wise, embracing your bold and authentic self is a key aspect of enjoying the preciousness of life. Rather than waiting for ‘next time’ or ‘tomorrow,’ savor the present moment, fully immerse yourself in experiences, and seize every opportunity with enthusiasm.
