Meet Eva García Luna

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eva García Luna a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Eva, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I haven’t, I fight it all the time, but now I know how to recognize it and do something about it. Is not easy. I have to remind myself all the time how amazing I am.
It’s difficult because I’m a perfectionist and I always feel like I need to improve more, but now I give myself the opportunity to try and making mistakes in the end is the only way to learn, just try and trust that everything will turn out well. Be well and trust mainly in myself. I understood that I have learned everything I need so far and that I will continue learning. I am constantly evolving and now I enjoy the now, the process.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Eva García Luna, singer, actress and dancer. I am originally from Durango, Mexico. I studied a degree in Communication Sciences at Tec de Monterrey and then I went to the city of Los Angeles to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute, one of the most recognized acting schools in the world where artists like Lady Gaga, Angelina Jolie, Al Pacino, to name a few, I studied and where I also started doing musical theater and singing.

Since 2010 I have spent much of my career in Los Angeles. After finishing my studies I applied for visa 01, which is a work visa for people with extraordinary abilities, one of the most difficult to obtain, which is only obtained with merits and achievements in the career.

I have been in different productions that have been awarded at different film festivals, including the most important film festival in the world in Cannes, France. I won first place in the best monologue contest for the Mexican embassy in Los Angeles. and I have been worthy of many recognitions from the city of Los Angeles and the state of California for enriching the Latin culture in that region.

I also studied Music Business at New York University and currently as a singer and songwriter I am a voting member of the “Latin Grammys” and a member of the non-profit association “ella She Is The Music” for women who work in music. industry.

I speak and sing in 4 languages Spanish, English, French and Italian and I have lived in several countries around the world in search of enriching my knowledge in the performing arts.

I am currently visiting Durango, I have reconnected with my roots and we are about to release a short film called “The Other” recorded in Durango and directed by the award-winning director Pamela Velásquez where I participate as a co-star. My latest single “Cielito Lindo” is also about to be released. Which will be available on digital platforms on September 14, in celebration of the Mexican national month.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I certainly believe that “persistence” is the best and most important quality to achieve anything you want.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My personal growth, after living alone for the last 13 years in other cities and countries, outside my comfort zone. I returned home with my family and that has helped me find my personal growth, which is very important at this stage of my life, I feel like I have learned a lot about myself. which is helping me achieve the life I want.
