Meet Angel LeNoir

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Angel LeNoir a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Definitely my mom. I spent a bit of my childhood inside the salon with mother, watching her slay hairstyles all day long. No complaints, no excuses, professional, fun and charismatic, I watched her. I watched how she worked hard to provide for my siblings and I, and I watched how she conducted business. I’m just mimicking her and I say that proudly. I knew could start a nail business successfully because I had watched my mother all those years do it so effortlessly. Hard work, creativity and customer service, all things I feel she’s instilled in me. I’m forever thankful for my mom. That’s my girl.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hi guys! I’m Angel LeNoir, a Louisiana native working and thriving in the Metro Atl area. The name of my business is Le Noir Canvas, which translates to “The Black Canvas” in english language. I’m a nail technician specializing in acrylic application and nail art design. My style is kind of throwback, as I’m known as the curved nail queen. Although I love job, my passion is in the artwork, which is why I chose to become a nail artist 6 years ago. I’ve always been artistic and creative. Nails just gave me the avenue and outlet to constantly be inspired and to create. The most exciting part for me is always the transformation, not on the hands, but in the confidence of my client. Most women feel me when I say there’s nothing like a fresh set. Your ego boosts, you’re feeling yourself, you’re talking with your hands now. Nothing beats that for me. Seeing my clients feeling beautiful and confident while they wear my art truly makes me happy. I could never get over their reactions and excitement after their appointments. I also offer custom press-on nails and kits for those customers who don’t get their nails done. I create custom sets only, curated for each specific person. Doing press ons have allowed me to create for ladies who don’t live near my area but still want my work, and even celebrities.
Creating art is just what I’m best at. I can take any theme and apply it to a set of nails. I pride myself on being a superb service provider, a nail educator, and trendsetter. I’m super proud of my work and I look forward to continuing to grow in this industry.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Oh man. Patience, creativity, and customer service were probably the most impactful for me. All 3 are extremely important to me to remain successful. The journey has definitely been long and I had to learn to be patient with success. I can remember when I lacked clientele, I lacked supplies, my social media had no traction, I felt like I wasn’t being seen. And none of those things came to me overnight. With the right determination and showcasing my creativity, I’ve gained a surplus of each. Business success takes patience, it takes persistence, you must keep going. I’m so glad I did and I’m only looking up. In this business being creative is so important but it’s also very hard to do at times. Things become repetitive, I can get uninspired, and sometimes having to always be creative can tiresome on my mental. However when I’m feeling that way I can look to other artists like myself for inspiration. There are so many talented people in this field. We all kind of piggyback off each other’s work to best satisfy our clients. This also makes my work refreshing and exciting because the possibilities are endless and that’s why I love art. So many ways to create, have fun, and try something new.
Customer service is so very important. I work everyday to make sure my clients feel appreciated and valued. I do this by always being prompt, courteous, and professional. Without my clients, my business would suffer and I do my best to always provide high quality services. That’s probably one thing my clients really love about coming to LNC. I believe in extending grace because I would want the same in return. Great customer service is a crucial component to maintain a successful career.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My favorite clients are those who just let me do my thing. Understanding that I’m an artist, and I like to be free creatively is something I absolutely appreciate. It’s kind of like going to a well rounded chef and telling them what you have a taste for. You don’t need to know what’s being cooked, or watch the process, but you know it’s gonna be good. Some of the best work I’ve ever done was from free-styling but also collaborating with my client’s vision. I also am very focused while working. I prefer silence and I’m appreciative that I have clients that understand that or don’t mind. Come relax, watch a movie, chill out and let me do what I do. I live for it.
