Meet Carlos Fierro

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Carlos Fierro. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Carlos below.

Carlos, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I always wanted to be an entrepreneur and have time to dedicate to my my family and my interests. But I always doubted that I would be able to do it. But once my second child was born with a rare condition, I knew that I needed to find a way to make my entrepreneur dream a reality because I needed to give him more time to help him. I tried a few business ideas that were good for a while, but never grew to where I needed them to be. The biggest problem I believe, has been starting companies in a partnership with other people. It is very difficult to find the right person to start a business with and it can lead to many problems.
The business that I run right now and have been doing for the last 12 years has eveolved from a food truck company, to an Experiential Marketing company working with clients such as Cirque du Soleil, to a Party Experience Company, combining everything I have learned through the years to bring a unique experience to each person that uses us for their special occasion. This is truly something I am passionate about and truly love doing. All my family helps out and we know that this will continue to grow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I bring happiness to people. The Experiences we create for our guests are well thought out to make them feel great during their party.
I learned form my time with Cirque du Soleil on how to reach people and how important it is to only deliver a service, but an experience, becuase services come and go, but when they feel something, that is what sticks with them much after the party has ended. Seing the happiness in their faces is what motivates me and keeps me creating new ways to make them feel that.
When you manage to combine the sensations you get by making people experience happiness, with also making it a profitable business, then you achieve a perfect balance and you have a sustainable business.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Learning how to market your product. You can have the best product or service in the world, but if you are not able to effictively market it to the people you want to reach, then your product or service will go nowhere.

2. Developing a tough skin.
You will get many “NOs” in your journey, and you have to understand that it is really not anything against you, it is just the way things are. You let them slide and just realize that they are not your customer. Don’t try to please everyone, stay focused and your customers will come to you.

3. Creativity
You need to be creative, not only to imagine new products and services, but to come out with the best ways to implement them that will benefit the customer best, and attract more eyes to them. Always make sure that you add value to your customer and you think what they need when you come up with your offerings.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My wife. She has always pushed me to overcome obstacles and been there for me when things have not been the best. She has been firm with me when it needed to be done, and also loving and supportive when she knew I needed it.
It is not easy being married to an entrepreneur. The hours are ridiculous, you hardly ever disconnect from the business, and many times we forget about the world. But she is always there to remind me of the important things.
