Meet Julie Sands

We were lucky to catch up with Julie Sands recently and have shared our conversation below.

Julie, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Ever since I was a little girl in middle school, I had a heart for people. I loved helping people. Maybe it was because my home life was in turmoil that I found it gratifying to help others get through their pain. I found my purpose in people and it’s been where I’ve thrived the most in life.
When I wrote my book, “War Dad by Julie Sands,” I knew I was going to inspire millions around the world to rise above their situation and succeed in life. I layed it all out in my book. I held nothing back in hopes that the reader would be inspired to rise up and push through whatever life situation they were in.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Today, I speak on stages, I produce community events for Veterans, I speak in schools and through my company, Shake It Up Now, I inspire women and kids all over the nation and (possibly the world, through social media) on how to live life in a way that will allow you to achieve your dreams.

I am currently scouting my book, War Dad, and would love to see it on Netflix, Hulu or any major streaming service as a series. That excites me.

I am available to speak at corporate events, church functions, schools or any other platform which seeks motivation and inspiration.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities I feel a person needs in order to achieve their dream life are: 1)Vision
You must have a solid vision of what your dream life will look like. You must be able to visualize it in your mind,
2)Guts
I use that word because of the impact it has. You must have the GUTS to push through all the hurdles, You must have the guts to get back up, even when you’re physically, mentally and emotionally drained. You must have the guts to ignore the naysayers. You must have the guts to make the phone calls, knock on doors and sometimes look like a fool and not let that stop you. It takes a lot of guts to come up from nothing. But, you’re worth it.
3) Faith
You must hold onto your faith throughout your journey. Many times, it will just be you and God.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
As I had mentioned earlier in the interview, I am currently looking to have my story turned into a movie or a series. Having no budget to do this and not knowing the in’s and out’s of Hollywood, it has been a learning-journey. But, as always, it’s one that I have the guts to follow through with – no matter what.
