We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shatonna Nelson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shatonna below.
Hi Shatonna, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
Over time I have learned to focus on me. So when there are people or haters I tend to not even notice. The only relationship that matters is with myself and the happier I have become the kinder I have become. So when someone is negative I believe they need to fix some internal things and I have compassion. I hope they find their happiness. Nothing can slow us down when we have a drive in purpose from within.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My goals for this year are 3-folded -Raise money for my non-profit, “Shatonna J. Nelson Foundation,” so I can continue to help with strategies in marginalized communities that positively impact education, financial literacy, and environmental resources.
-I want to coach at least 10 people this year and help them become millionaires and successful in comprehensive life.
-I am creating multiple television projects I look forward to watching on a major network.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Maintain INTEGRITY. In the hardest moments maintain integrity because the seeds you plant will grow. 2.SUPPORT SYSTEM. Pick the right circle to surround yourself with as the people around you will influence your over all success, development, and skillset.
3. Develop SELF-DISCIPLINE. There will always be days and times when you do not want to do things. Feelings of imposter syndrome and just hard days but you have to get it done to be successful.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I have learned to just stop and sit with my emotions when I am overwhelmed. This is the best way to identify why I am truly overwhelmed then I figure out how I can fix anything contributing to the problem. The things I can’t fix I simple let go of immediately.
