Meet Ethan Lartey

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ethan Lartey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ethan, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Seeing my parents work hard day in and day out. From a young age and being blessed to grow up with both parents seeing how hard they worked to provide and make a way.. it is truly all the motivation I need to keep going anytime I may reach a hard time or a roadblock. I just remember times when things were not the best and they always strived and push through. I truly do respect anyone and everyone who is working everyday towards their goals. It is not worth it but it will worth it.. and that is for sure.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
GODSENT is set apart from other streetwear brands, the story behind its founder, Ethan Lartey. Lartey is not just the owner and creative director of GODSENT, but he is also a survivor. On January 4th, 2020, he fell three stories out of his window and almost lost his life. He credits his survival to Jesus, and his brand’s name reflects this gratitude. GODSENT is more than just a clothing brand; it’s a movement for people who are simply GODSENT. Lartey’s personal story adds depth and meaning to the brand, inspiring and empowering others who have faced similar struggles.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
A strong work-ethic, ambition and having a strong relationship with God. He will lead and guide you throughout it all. For anyone starting their journey in their vision, I will say have fun, enjoy the process and learn. It is not going to be perfect but each day you learn, you grow. That is the ultimate rich in my opinion.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Not rushing the process and just enjoying and being in the moment and being more grateful. It is easy and amazing thing to have “tunnel vision” but you can get blinded by the grind and working hard. Having that balance is key. Being more present in the moments and day to day has really helped me to be more grateful and mindful of each blessing we have.
