We recently connected with Danielle Nishida and have shared our conversation below.
Danielle , so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
Being a parapeligic woman who has endured many life changing and difficult circumstances, I have found that the key to success and happiness is remaining positive no matter the situation one is in. There is always a silver lining, a speckle of hope, a lesson, and an opportunity for growth.
After a car accident 20 years that nearly took my life, I gained a new perspective on life. I learned that I cannot take one minute for granted. I have used that perspective to pursue and succeed at my life goals. I have since became the mother of two children a doctor of psychology, and co-founder of a non-profit.
Without optimism, I would not have the confidence, drive, or desire to pursue these esteemed goals. This optimism is part of my interventions and style of therapy and one of the reasons I believe that my career as a doctor has been so accomplished.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
With all the education and life experience I have, my belief is that we are all important and necessary, I am no better than anyone else in this world and we can all learn from each other and help each other. I am passionate about spreading love and kindness in this world. I love being a therapist because I get to encourage and help people tackle their most difficult life situations.
I have teamed up with a friend to start a non-profit called SICC House; a safe space where we practice integrity, live with courage and provide a heathy community. We provide free alternative healing events in the community such as sound baths, meditations, yoga, self defense classes, vendor events and we provide free music lessons to children. Our aim is to use art, music and mindfulness to promote healing and help people find and live their passions.
You can check out our website and follow us on facebook or instagram: www.sicchouse.com, SICC House, @sicc_house where we have monthly topics where we dive into important topics and share out local event information.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities/skills/knowledge are: Be of service: don’t keep your gifts to yourself, we are meant to help each other and share our gifts.
Be yourself: you are special and your presence is necessary and important to the world
Don’t give up: Keep trying, say yes to opportunities, live life and don’t leave this world saying “I wish I would have…….:”
People can improve in these by doing activities that promote self-awareness, volunteering, and asking for help. All these are possible when we chose love over fear.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I am overwhelmed, I talk, I reach out for help and support. I remeber that I cannot do this alone. My advice is to put the ego aside and be ok and welcoming of help.
