We recently connected with Hannah Barnthouse and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I’ve always been the eternal optimistic; I think it comes from my core belief that your energy and actions are like a boomerang! When you believe in good, good comes back, when you do good, good comes back! It all goes hand in hand with being an optimist and hoping for the best for myself and others!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I own a jewelry brand called Hair Candy by Han! Hair Candy By Han was founded in 2020 with the goal of creating community and affordable statement accessories for women that I could not find elsewhere. I created a line tailored from subtle statements all the way to extravagantly elevated pieces so there is something for every woman who comes into contact with our line. Hair Candy by Han successfully helps women feel confident and beautiful, while delivering unique one of a kind products that are highly sought after. HCBH has garnered the attention of A- list celebrities such as Paris Hilton, “Entertainer of the Year,” Lainey Wilson, critically acclaimed tv shows such as ABC’s The Bachelor, Bachelor in Paradise, Vanderpump Rules, Housewives of Dallas, and more!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
ADAPTION, Learning by doing and not being afraid to pivot! My brand started at my kitchen table and quickly turned into a jewelry brand where we now offer over 400 one of a kind designs! Listening to my customers has always been my best sounding board for new ideas; we’re a tight knit community of women who bond over beautiful gems!
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
I’m a HUGE believer in DOPAMINE DRESSING! Dopamine Dressing is a form of hacking happiness; by choosing the pieces we love, it spurs our brain to release dopamine therefore making us HAPPY! I ALWAYS wear the pieces i love, from my gems, to my shoes, to my sparkly “personality pants,” to a rubber fish purse my customers named GUS! WHATEVER pieces bring you joy, you should WEAR! My parents ALWAYS encouraged me to express myself in what i wore and never forced me to change no matter what i came out wearing!
