Meet Jocelyn Stuart

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jocelyn Stuart. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jocelyn below.

Jocelyn, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

As someone who has always been independent and loves the feeling of helping others, I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. From the start of my career until now, I have found a true calling in being able to help others better their lives. From my career as a hair stylist, there was nothing better than having your client say, “Thank you for making me feel beautiful” or “I feel as good as new!” Those small compliments mean the most to business owners.
Organizing and editing people’s homes and wardrobes is just as satisfying, if not more. I never realized how much organizing could impact my life and my clients’ lives. That is truly when I knew that I had found my purpose. I had a client hire me to organize her home, and after my work was done, she felt a sigh of relief. After working with me, she created a healthy and clean lifestyle for herself and then lost 75 pounds. She realized that clearing the clutter in her home was a push to help her make changes within herself as well. I now maintain and refresh her house every two months. Not only did I gain a client, but I also gained a friend!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Jocelyn Stuart Home Editing is a company that provides organization and editing services to help maintain and refresh your home. We all know how busy life can get and we sometimes have the tendency to put cleaning on the back burner, until we look and see piles upon piles of items that we need to store away. JS Home Editing is there to help you go through parts of your home that need improvement and we offer our services however they may fit to your needs.

One of the best things about my job is seeing a project from start to finish. Looking at a room that is filled with unnecessary items that aren’t visually appealing and then looking at the room once it is properly organized, is such a fantastic feeling! We take the proper steps to edit, organize, donate, and then put the belongings away so your home is easily accessible for everyone.

In 2024, we are looking forward to continuing to offer home services and wardrobe styling and editing services. We believe that giving your closet a refresh every quarter is the perfect start to a new season and allows you to keep what you need, but then donate or throw away anything that isn’t of use. With some new hangers, jewelry trays, shoe shelves, etc., your closet with look like it is out of a magazine!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that were, and still are, the most impactful on my journey thus far are organization, decision making skills, and a great work ethic. While there are many more qualities and skills I’ve had to focus on, these three are by far the most important. Knowing that I can take these skills and put them to use every day in my career is something that I love. I can see how far I have grown over time but continue to focus on them to grow my business.
Finding a career that you love can be a challenge, but don’t let that stop you. Take your skills and continue to improve them every single day. Whether you may need to work on your communication skills or networking opportunities, expanding yourself will help you grow. Always ask others for help when needed or even ask for advice. You may gain a great amount of knowledge from someone who has been through your journey!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My dad is someone who I have always looked up to, but also someone who taught me how to overcome challenges. Growing up, my dad taught me what a great work ethic looked like, and he guided me to become someone who would gain those attributes. On weekends, when he would work on investment properties, or even chores around the house, I was always a footstep behind him to help. My self-discipline is handed down from him. As I watched him work, day in and day out, I started to pick up on his habits that I now carry with me today in my career. While I saw him always accomplish things himself, I know that I need to ask others for help. As someone who would try to take on all the work herself, I know that it can sometimes be impossible! Having a healthy balance of work life and home life are two important qualities that I focus on and continue to learn to have.
