Meet Jeff Zhorne

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeff Zhorne a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jeff, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
In 1991, after the deaths of my two children in a tragic auto accident, I found himself stuck in wishing things had been different and regretting not spending more time with them. The pain, isolation and loneliness were unbearable. I had gotten to the point that I didn’t want to be reminded of my children any more, but I didn’t have that choice, Grief recovery provided a way of finishing what was so I could begin to live with what is.
The more completion work I did, the fewer things were left unfinished, and the more I began to cherish fond memories of my children, Jeremy and Amelia. They both left a legacy of love, not pain. I started to remember them for the way they lived, not just the way they died,
After much education, training and therapy, I made some incredible discoveries about myself and the process of emotional healing. I became a Certified Grief Specialist nearly 30 years ago, and it is my mission to educate hurting people heart by heart.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
If the sadness won’t go away and you are ready to expand your life and relationships, you can learn to finish unfinished emotional business and move beyond loss. With the correct tools we can learn to cherish fond memories of our loved ones. Sad memories won’t tear us up anymore. If you or someone you know is suffering from unresolved grief issues, contact me for a free consultation about tools and skills for ending the pain of loss. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think primary qualities are persistence and resilience while working toward a goal, but not being attached to an outcome. The result doesn’t need to look a certain way. Day by day, move the ball up the field, then leave it on the field until the next day. Plant seeds. Suffuse with expectant energy. Retain the joy and wonder in the work itself. The process. The journey. Trust

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We are currently in a phase of not only helping grieving people, but also training grief counselors. We teach aspiring counselors how to guide people through the struggle of loss, whether death of a loved one, divorce, breakup, pet loss or any other type of loss.
