We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful A Voice, LLC. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with A Voice, below.
A Voice,, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Purpose was developed from working with the special needs population many years ago in case management and the passion continued to grow in years to follow. Seeing that they lacked the care and attention they needed was a driving force to want to advocate for them. Knowing they wanted the same things as everyone else, to date, to live in their own homes, basically all human rights and independence. Our mission then and still now is to ensure we do what is needed to offer support.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
A Voice, LLC is a home and community-based service provider. We provide services to children and adults in the state of Texas. Our population are those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We ensure they have the residential, specialized therapies, dental, and nursing services they need. We find joy in their joy. Knowing the individuals are in the community and not in an institution. Before the medical model changed in the mid-eighties, many individuals with special needs were institutionalized in nursing facilities, state schools, and jails. We are a faith-based organization. We allow God to be the head and guide us through this ministry. We understand this is much bigger than we could ever imagine, and we are being used as vessels to serve the individuals that are sent to us. We understand many families are not receiving all needed services, which is why we opened a non-profit organization to bridge the gap. By the year 2025, we aspire to have a new community center for individuals and their families to utilize for recreational purposes. We will be launching more information about the center and new developments on our A Voice, LLC website in the upcoming months.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Perseverance, ambition, and faith were the key qualities. We prayed and continue to pray for wisdom and understanding before any decisions were/are made. We understand that having a solid support system is key in business when you embark on a mission. We took our passion and allowed it to become the focus to fulfill our purpose. Having years of case management experience was beneficial. It allowed us time to learn all the services, rules and regulations, and gain a more in dept understanding of the special needs population.
Our best advice would be to fully commit and tell yourself there are no plan Bs. No matter how marketable you feel you are, no matter how many other job offers you receive, stick to what you believe. Give it everything you have and stop at nothing until the goal is reach. If it is your purpose, it will come to pass.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Currently we are looking for people who understand the need of services and activities for persons with special needs. The individuals need a place to go where they feel secure, independent, and to be around others they share commonalities with. In order to bring the vision into fruition we need generous donors to contribute in-kind services as well as monetary donations. Donors will be able to view our website to learn more about our organizations. There will also be a link available to sign up for volunteer and donation opportunities.
