Meet Emily Lewis

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emily Lewis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emily below.

Emily, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Finding my purpose has been a huge part of my life’s work and what I help my clients with in my business, Emily the Mystic. I view purpose as a very multidimensional and multi-layered concept, and I want to start by defining what purpose means to me. First of all, from an overarching perspective, the purpose for all of us is to be alive, to be fully present here and make the most of our time on earth. That’s the purpose of life… to actually be alive and have gratitude for the experience of being alive! Second of all, zooming in a bit more, we each have a unique energetic expression or essence that we are here to share with the world. For me, that looks like sharing the energy of joy with everyone around me, lifting the spirits of others, and helping them remember that life is meant to be enjoyed and is meant to be fun. Thirdly, the way that we choose to express our purpose or essence is through what I like to call the soul’s mission. That’s the career, vocation, business, volunteering effort, caretaking, or other action that we embark on during our life that becomes part of our life’s work. For me, my mission is to be a spiritual teacher, to help make complicated spiritual teachings easy to understand and approachable for the modern person. It’s also part of my mission to be a coach and a mentor, to help clients in my business discover their own purpose and mission for their life. And finally, it’s also part of my mission to contribute to my family, my friendships, and my community as well. My path to discovering my mission and purpose has been windy and it has definitely not been a straight line. As an adult fresh out of college, I immediately began working in the corporate world and felt extremely bored and unfulfilled. I just couldn’t understand how I was supposed to spend the rest of my life working for my next promotion or my next pay raise, it just didn’t motivate me or light my soul on fire. But what I was passionate about was health and fitness, and so I started a side hustle as a holistic health, wellness, and fitness coach. The pandemic hit shortly after, and I suddenly had endless time to pour into working on my new business. Along the way, I started re-visiting spirituality- something that’s been part of my life since childhood, but I just didn’t have time for during my busy corporate job. I was passionate about spirituality from a very early age, I would read books about astrology, psychic gifts, and chakras when I was 9 years old! My soul finally began to feel a sense of fulfillment, joy, and excitement with re-discovering this passion. This spiritual journey I was on was what I had been searching for all along! I began working with spiritual teachers and mentors to learn about my own intuitive gifts and became obsessed. My business began to take off, and I decided to pivot my business to spirituality. I quit my corporate job, and now I do this work full-time. What led me to discovering my mission and purpose, was going inwards during my spiritual journey in the midst of the pandemic. I began revisiting who I was in childhood… those spiritual interests that I had but pushed away in pursuit of a busy, and normal, adult life. I started asking myself the hard questions, who am I? What do I love doing? How do I help others? What do I want to spend the rest of my life doing? And it was in that inner introspection, as well as working with mentors who helped mirror these findings back to me, that my purpose began to unfold. I feel so grateful that I get to live my purpose every single day and get paid for it!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a six figure spiritual business owner, intuitive mentor, and spiritual teacher. My business, Emily the Mystic, helps highly sensitive old souls heal. I am on a mission to help my clients heal from the past as well as reclaim their intuitive gifts, manifest their dreams, and experience the most joyful life while doing it. I am an expert in psychic gifts, past life regression, meditation, the Akashic Records, shadow work, manifestation, quantum healing, and other spiritual practices.

I was a very intuitive and empathic child, but I didn’t have the classic “psychic experiences” while growing up. I didn’t grow up seeing ghosts in my bedroom, or using my dreams to predict the future. However, I was obsessed with reading books about spirituality from a very young age, and was fascinated with this idea that I could be “psychic” and teach myself how to connect with the spirit world. Fast forward to my early twenties when I had a corporate “dream job,” that left me extremely disconnected from my day-to-day life. As a steppingstone to redesign my life, I pivoted into personal training on the side, and shortly after found myself immersed once again in spirituality. I began studying spirituality like I did when I was a kid, I started working with spiritual coaches and mentors, and began learning how to connect with the spirit world myself. My psychic gifts started coming in full throttle, and I started helping others connect with their own intuition. Now, I’m a full-time spiritual business owner who helps others reclaim their own psychic and intuitive gifts!

Overall, I help my clients become their most authentic selves and rediscover who they are at a soul level. This helps them manifest whatever they are desiring in life- whether that be an aligned career, more money, a loving romantic relationship, a dream home, new travel experiences, or even starting a business of their own. I do this through a modality called the Akashic Records that helps my clients discover who they really are, heal from their past lives and their childhood in this lifetime, and align with the future they know that they deserve. I am also an expert in helping my clients connect with their intuition, discovering their own psychic gifts, and using their intuitive gifts to make the world a better place. I am most proud that I have helped hundreds of students in my readings and in my online courses re-discover their own intuitive gifts and find a life path that is so authentic to them and brings them so much joy!

Clients can work with me in a variety of ways. I offer single 1 hour Akashic Records sessions where clients can find out about who they are at a soul level, learn more about their mission and purpose, heal from their past lives, and discover what could be blocking them from what they want to manifest in this lifetime. I also offer an Akashic Records Certification where clients can learn how to do what I do and use the power of this modality to help their own clients. If clients are new to spirituality and want to learn how to use their own psychic and intuitive gifts, they can take my online course the Intuition Activation Academy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
First of all, as an entrepreneur, I wouldn’t have gotten here without taking some huge risks! I decided to pursue entrepreneurship and my dream of being a successful spiritual business owner while I was working in a corporate job. This job was extremely comfortable, it provided me with a good salary and great benefits. However, I knew that in order to pursue my passion and become successful as an entrepreneur, I couldn’t work in my corporate job forever. It required a massive leap of faith for me to leave this corporate job and pursue entrepreneurship full time. At the time, I had very little money saved and my business was only making a few hundred dollars per month. Most people would say that I was totally crazy in quitting this great job and going off on my own… but I took a huge risk and did it anyway. I had full faith and trust in myself and in my business, and quitting was one of the best decisions I ever made. I quickly replaced my corporate income and then some! I continue to need to take risks as an entrepreneur whenever I start a new business venture, create a new offer, work with a new collaborator, or create something new. Every new thing I build is always a risk, and there’s no guarantee that it will pay off. Without risk taking, there is no reward! But I have found that risks really do pay off, and regardless of the result, you always learn something new. If you are new to your entrepreneurship journey, you are going to need to build trust and faith in yourself and begin to take small calculated risks. Start small: like posting a new piece of content, or reaching out to a friend to see if they would want to be a future client. You need to put yourself out there, take the risk, and see what happens! With time and practice, risk-taking will become second nature and you may reap some huge rewards!

Second, it is absolutely essential that I am consistent as a business owner. I need to show up in my business, even in small ways, daily. This business was not an overnight success. It took dedicated time and effort, and taking daily action steps every single day over 3 years to really see my success unfold. For example, I built my YouTube channel (Emily the Mystic) from scratch and now have over 1k subscribers! It took dedicated time and effort by creating a new video every single week over 2 years in order to get here. If you are a new entrepreneur, consistency is not what you want to hear. We see these incredible stories of overnight success and people reaching fame from viral social media success. However, this was not my path and I needed to use consistent time, effort, and action in order to build my six figure business. I always ask myself, what is my next small baby step that I can take today in order to reach my goals? Go from there, every single day, and with time you’ll look back and see what you’ve created!

Third, optimism has been an essential part of my success. Entrepreneurship is risky and success is not guaranteed. Sales are not always consistent or predictable, and you never know if a new project that you’ve put time and effort into will pay off. Being optimistic about my journey has helped me in incredible ways. I always have a positive outlook on my work and what the result will be. This doesn’t mean that I ignore hard feelings or difficult emotions, I consider the full emotional experience to be extremely important. Whenever hard emotions come up, I always allow myself to feel them. But I don’t let myself stay in those difficult emotions. I allow myself to let them go and move on! This allows me to approach my life with a positive perspective, knowing that things will always work out exactly as they need to. I always trust that however my life is unfolding is for my highest good. To approach life with a positive perspective, I love to set an intention for my day. An example of an intention could be, “I allow myself to take guided action today, trusting that everything will work out as it needs to today,” and then I go through my day and see what happens! It’s always cool to see how my intention unfolds throughout the day. Optimism allows me to feel confident and trust in my journey as an entrepreneur!

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is a high-achieving, highly sensitive, life-long learner. My client is an old soul, they question life and are curious about what more could exist out there in our universe. They approach life with an open-minded perspective, always wanting to learn more and understand more about who they are and why the world is the way it is. However, my client is a people-pleaser and would prefer to avoid conflict. My client often wears a mask of someone that they are not, based on who they were taught to be by society, parents, school, religion, etc (such as the good girl, the perfectionist, or someone who has their life perfectly put together). Our work together involves peeling back the layers and discovering who they are as an authentic soul, and letting go of who they think they should be.

My clients are life-long students, they are constantly discovering new things, learning about new approaches to life, new practices, new topics, and love having something new that keeps their mind busy. They are self-led and success oriented, they have already received some level of success (whether that be in a current career, as an entrepreneur, or as the head of their household), and are always desiring more. However, they are often not confident in their skills and talents, and get caught up in their mistakes and perceived past failures. We work on self love to help them detach their self worth from their productivity, so that they can truly learn to love themselves from within (not based on their achievements). They are also extremely intuitive, empathic, and sensitive. They can feel the energy and emotions of everyone around them, and are extremely in tune with their surroundings and other people. My client is also an over-giver, they take care of everyone else before themselves, and they have a hard time making time for self care and putting themselves first. We focus on learning how to prioritize themselves and their needs and asking for help and support from others.

After our time together, my clients become the most authentic version of themself! They learn about who they are internally and what they need so that they can better take care of themselves and learn to ask for help and support from others. They learn confidence and self love so that they can learn how to love themselves for who they are, not for what they do. They learn to manage their stress and their empathy, and they learn how to manifest the life that they deeply desire with confidence and joy!
