Meet Edgar Quiroz

We recently connected with Edgar Quiroz and have shared our conversation below.

Edgar, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from my mom. Working multiple jobs, running a business and taking care of four children as a single parent, really put things into perspective for me. Seeing my mother work so hard to give us what we needed to get by gave me the drive to do the same to give her everything she needs so she wouldn’t have to work as hard. We were always taught to work for what we wanted and to this day I’m proud of the work ethic I was able to inherit.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I run a record label that helps artists find the resources and opportunities needed to grow. I’m also the director of LFMG Music Academy a nonprofit organization that helps youth learn about music by providing them with the knowledge and tools to create music in a safe environment. We’re providing a healthy outlet for the youth in Western Colorado. We recently launched our after school program “In the Lab” that give youth the opportunity to create a song from scratch or focus on different aspects of music production. We hope to shape and create the next generation of leaders by providing them with the resources needed.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three of the qualities, skills or knowledge that were most impactful in my journey are professionalism, relationship building and giving back to my community. Relationship building is one of the most impactful qualities in my career because its help me build long term relationships with people who are invested, interested, and willing to support projects I work on. With youth the professionalism it would be hard to reach some of these relationship that are life changing. Your attitude is everything in any business you’re in. A professional, positive attitude will take you further than you could have ever imagined. Now all of the success doesn’t mean much if you’re not giving back to your community and helping your community grow. By helping out your community, you create opportunity and growth that can last for a long time.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
We are always looking to partner with folks that genuinely care about the community and are not just in it for the money. Although money is always a factor in any endeavor, I strongly believe doing things for the right reason will have a better foundation and bigger impact in the long run. When it comes to community we love to collaborate with other folks or organizations.
