Meet Lauren Clouse

We were lucky to catch up with Lauren Clouse recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Lauren with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic comes from my incredibly hard working, resilient and creative family. I am the first born and first gen child of a self employed contractor and Mexican migrant. The two of those combined set my sister and I up to be extremely motivated to hustle, grow and make things happen. My father David has owned his own company as a contractor since he was a teenager and taken those skills and profession from his father. My mother Connie who also has a background of self employed parents, is the business partner of my fathers, she not only does all the handy work she also handles all administration. Because of this, my entire life I watched two very influential people make a beautiful life for my sister and I. All we know is hard work, creative side hustles (and a lot of them) and no excuses. My parents almost never took vacations, days off aside from most Sundays, and gave my sister and I everything.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a proud entrepreneur and Latina business owner from Golden, Colorado. I have been a part of the beauty industry for 12 years and self-employed for 7. My beauty studio is in the historic Golden Triangle and is a safe place for all humans to come in and self care. At Lauren Denver Beauty we offer a range of services to fit the need of any person and all things brow and lash! At Lauren Denver Beauty we are currently a two person team myself and the great and talented Megan! A few of our most popular services are Lamination, Waxing and Tinting and Lash Lifting services. These items are meant to make you feel your best and make your morning routine the easiest! In the near future I am looking to expand and offer a safe place for more artists to grow and create adding the opportunity to host events, trainings and networking.

Lastly, I am a lover and collector of many things vintage. I grew up with my family being second hand aficionados and classic car enthusiasts which has brought my father and I to create and soon launch a new business renting our classic cars to artists; weddings, creative photoshoots, film and any other mediums! I created this for an opportunity for us to do what we enjoy most together. I am so excited to learn and create with my dad.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most impactful characteristics of my journey have been artistry, communication and discipline. To me artistry has been important because I am always focusing on improving my skills, knowledge and execution. It is the majority of my reputation and is the foundation of trust for my clients. Artistry has come from many years of working on many faces, trials and successes. Artistry is where I can be fluid and show off my creative ability. I am able to use my clients facial features as my canvas. Strong communication has been another big quality that shaped my journey. An appointment is a time where my clients are able to relax and I am able to build strong trustworthy relationships with them. I want everyone to feel safe, at home and for me to produce a service they will love.
Discipline has been the most impactful and most necessary part of my life. Some days are harder than others and I can be socially drained, but a disciplined routine has made managing the grind much easier. Setting boundaries, getting a good nights sleep, recharging my battery, working out and eating good food to fuel long days… I am truly blessed to have such a fun business, I meet the most incredible humans and help them feel their best. In order for me to give my best I need to feel and be my best.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has been self love. In this industry as professionals we pour our hearts and minds into making our clients feel their best. We spend hours hearing about the lives of our clients. We give advice, love, condolences, affirmations among many other things while providing a service. With that, our cups need to be filled as well; we need to enforce boundaries out of love and create work life balance. Self love for me has been taking care of my mind and body. When I feel overwhelmed I make time to recharge this includes kicking my feet up and laying on the couch with my boyfriend, dog and family, reading, meditate, working out or a solo drive in my El Camino. I never put my mental health first until I was faced with many challenges in the past year that made me feel uncomfortable forcing me to grow, heal and be my best.
