We were lucky to catch up with Brandi Banks recently and have shared our conversation below.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Juice Snob is a mobile juice bar in Atlanta that specializes in delicious, nutrient-dense supplements that support the health and wellness goals of people who are pressed for time. Led by a vegetarian of nearly 20 years, we know the power of fruits and veggies and have an affinity for sharing the veggie love! We got into this work to ‘hack’ our genetics and teach others to do the same. We want to show the masses of all socioeconomic backgrounds that it is possible to avoid certain lifestyle diseases and correct others through food. At Juice Snob, we believe that access to healthy and nutritious food is a birthright!
…because what you put in your body matters…
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the most impactful skills for have acquired in my journey thus far are isolation, self-love, and alignment.
Isolation is crucial so you can hear/plan your next move. The world can be noisy and crowded but your journey is YOUR journey. Take the time to get quiet and tap into your wants, desires, and needs.
Self-love is not just manis and pedis. Self-love is having boundaries. It is surrounding yourself with people who love and respect you. Self-love is also being self-aware and doing the work to become your best self.
Once you are clear on your wants, desires, and needs, is paramount to focus on alignment. Immerse yourself with people and opportunities that share your values.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was support me. They did not try to force me to fit inside a predetermined box. They have supported all of my transitions…all of my career changes…my relocations. They allowed me to make my own decisions about the life I desired to live. When others tried to get me to ‘settle’ down and choose something, they encouraged me to keep exploring and not get stagnant.
Oh…and a special shoutout to my mom in particular…who showed me how to leave a situation when it no longer serves you. Her decision to get divorced when things went left…despite having children…showed me that I can choose what’s best for me, even if it is one of the hardest choices of my life.
