Meet Danny Cocke

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danny Cocke. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Danny, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Having been diagnosed with two different stage 4 cancers already by age 41, I’ve had to reluctantly but positively fight for my life. Though the struggle was arduous and physically challenging, the spiritual and personal rewards have been exponential and I’m thankful for what these trying experience have done to elevate me on many levels.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hi, my name is Danny Cocke,

I’ve been an enthusiastic multi-instrumental musician and producer since I was a child. I’ve been composing music for film, televisions, video games and movie trailers for the last 15 years in Los Angeles. It’s been a blast and a wild ride, scoring shows on CBS, composing music for some of the biggest AAA video games, and scoring custom trailer music for some of my favorite movies and franchises.
But my life has taken a slight turn since I was diagnosed with cancer for the 2nd time just last year. Most of my time this year has been spent in treatments and doing everything humanly possible to beat stage 4 colon cancer.
Thankfully, my treatments have been working and I’m feeling fantastic. I do so much each day for health and fitness that my music work is just part time. A lot of the music I’m working on now is with friends and for passion rather than for media these days, though I am still doing some video game scores and some tracks for wellness apps.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Though composing has been my profession for over a decade, my most important skills and area of knowledge are now cancer related. Through my own journey and the network of patients I’ve made friends with at my cancer center, I’ve collected an enormous amount of cancer related information. I’m known around the center as one to come talk to and get info from, which has been such an honor. I’m working on a whole website and social media campaign for next year for any newly diagnosed cancer patient to be able to visit and get any and all info and possible things to consider along their journey, from alternate treatments, supplements, at home routines and every possible thing one can do to tip the scales in their favor in their journey to heal from cancer.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I would be honored and excited to be connected to other cancer survivors and thrivers to help that community in any way I can.
