Meet George Sluppick

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful George Sluppick. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with George below.

George, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Honestly, it comes from the belief that this is my calling, I don’t really know how to do anything else. Dad always said, when you stop having fun, move on to something else!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Professional drummer for most of my life, primarily focused on making records and providing a soulful, joyful sound to everything I do. My goal is making people dance.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Developing patience for myself and understanding that this is indeed a life long journey that has no beginning or end. Being part of a music continuum where giants paved the way for us is such an honor.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
Mom and Dad gave me everything when I started out…they could see how much I loved playing the drums and made sure I always had some to play. Their love, support and encouragement meant I could do what I wanted to do with my life, and for a little boy, that was the greatest gift I could have ever asked for. I’m very grateful.
