Meet Jona Sees

We recently connected with Jona Sees and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jona, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
I freedive in the kelp forests. It gives me strength, joy, perspective, and a sense of freedom no matter what is going on. Besides that I always make sure to eat and sleep well, even during 90-hour work weeks.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I design and direct a brand called Eyn Vas. With clothing as a medium, we’re exploring what it means to live a natural existence in our modern world.

While our customer base is spread out around the globe, we recently opened a beautiful hybrid gallery-shop space in our Echo Park studio with monthly events and rotating art. It’s purpose is to connect with people in person so please come say hello!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Design and vision always came naturally to me so my big areas in development have been marketing, finance, and management. I didn’t inherent any of those so it only thanks to people around me that I picked them up. For a long time I wanted to say, “I’m an artist and I need other people to do those things.” But for me those turned out being the funnest challenges.

Even if you’re lucky enough to partner with masters of your weak areas or plug into an existing structure, it’s helpful to at least speak that language. My advice is lean into the unknown scary stuff and surround yourself with people who know things you don’t.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Always! Brilliant, open minds who can follow ideation with action and see business as a big challenging game. We are also growing and looking for talented, driven individuals.

And most importantly, I don’t know who I need to meet or who needs to meet me. I love the unexpected.
