Meet Candace Spann

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Candace Spann. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Candace, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose when I realized that my life would not be fulfilled unless I was spreading joy and the love of Jesus, with those around me. In the past, I spent most of my life looking at situations from a viewpoint of pain, and when I received the Love of God, healing, and joy in the midst of it, I knew it was something everyone needed to know too. I thought my purpose was in my profession or in my hobbies ,and I learned that those are areas I am gifted in, but purpose is a life assignment, that you can’t go one day without. So I make it my duty, to pass the torch, that lit a fire in me to others every opportunity I can, because it wasn’t until found the purpose in Joy and Love, is where I found the purpose within myself.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
What better way to focus a brand around the only thing you know, which is yourself. My brand is my name “Candace Spann” and it is multifaceted. My personal connection with my community online, is centered around creatively using joy to break barriers of sadness, grief, & depression off of people’s lives. What makes this special, is that joy comes in many forms but it is medicinal to everyone. I am currently working on growing my new podcast called “The Missing Piece by Candace Spann” which can be found on Spotify & Apple. I have a brand new series releasing soon called “Grief in Pieces” which I will share about the impact I’ve had since losing a grandparent. This podcast is for those who has seen different pieces of their lives and didn’t know how it will all come together; and piece by piece is how we see the bigger picture.

My professional connection with my community online, is focused on (EX’SPANN)ding people’s lives through education and owning real estate, and interior design. Interior design ultimately was a hobby that I became really good at, which I have turned into a business called, Abundant Life Restore, LLC. During the day I sell New Construction Homes through a national home builder in Charleston, SC, who I’ve been with for 8.5 Years and by the evening I am building my online presence.

I’ve often thought that I wouldn’t be able to wear multiple hats but, I’ve learned many things can coexist at the same time in my life. Many things like my personal and professional purpose both growing at the same time.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities and/or skills that was most impactful in my journey were: Thinking Positive, Being Confident in Yourself, and Remaining Teachable. The only thing I can control is myself and my thought process. When you think positive on a consistent basis it helps the outcome of each situation, even if you are not in control. Being confident is another great quality and I was taught this from my mother. Confidence has helped shape the love and grace I give myself daily, personally, and professionally. And last, remaining teachable is a great quality because I don’t know everything and I can lean on others who may know more. This has helped me work within the abilities that I have and has saved me multiple times from burn out.

My advice for those who are early in their journey, whether it’s personal or professional, is to partner, collab, or work with those who are going in the direction you want to go. Ask questions (seek knowledge & wisdom), because no question is stupid. And lastly, keep a notebook, and journal your thoughts, ideas, innovations, because its a great tool of reference to watch your growth through the years.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
The biggest area of growth and improvement in the past 12 months is working out and self care. This year I set a goal to improve my health and I have been consistently in the gym for the entire year. I’ve added self care as another biggest area of growth because I am such a busy body. I had a hard time resting because I wore so many hats and this year my word for myself was “Rest” and that’s what I did. I rested a lot, read more books, solo traveled, therapy, and took care of “Candace”. It was the best thing I could do for myself.
