Meet Anna Beros

We were lucky to catch up with Anna Beros recently and have shared our conversation below.

Anna, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Therapy, reading Women who run with the wolves, reflection and conscious rejection of environments and relationships that don’t feel good, occupying spaces that inspire me and watching others doing what inspires me

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a full-time standup comedian based in Berlin, touring Europe, the UK and Australia and wherever I’m invited! I perform in English, and sometimes Italian and German, and I love the challenge of performing to non-native English speakers and very international audiences as local references, pop culture and complicated language can’t be relied on. To be an English language standup in mainland Europe, self-production is the way to make a living so production and marketing is a huge part of my job. I love my new website annaberos.com which I’m expanding to have more blog-like content as well as listings and ticketing for all my events. My regular shows in Berlin support my development of new material and that of local and touring comedians. Pimp My Jokes Mondays at Süss war gestern is an experimental format with audience input. Back Door Comedy is my Tuesday open mic at Mysliwska and After Party Comedy my tight comedian packed open open mic at The Wall Comedy.
My solo show, Creampie Curious runs monthly, on tour and at festivals like the upcoming Leicester Comedy Festival 2024 and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2024. The same goes for my new work in progress solo, Creampie Clarity.
I also host the Nonsense YouTube channel launching at the end of 2023 which is hilarious fun.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Healthy, realistic expectation setting. Enjoying the moment and knowing this might be as good as it gets is so important. Learn from your peers but don’t compare yourself – only compare yourself to who you were yesterday.

Experience as a freelancer – managing my accounts and getting new opportunities helped a lot in becoming a self-employed standup comedian.

Experience as a restaurant/bar
manager helped me manage relationships with venues, coordinate comedians and negotiate social media.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Women who run with wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés is integral reading for any female creative or otherwise

The Art of Power by Thich Nhat Hanh helped me integrate Buddhist practices with my business practices and creative process
