Meet Dr. Kebar Yodhhewawhe

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dr. Kebar Yodhhewawhe. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dr. Kebar below.

Dr. Kebar, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
In most rooms, I find myself being the only one who looks like me. I never really had to ‘learn’ how to succeed because I often am qualified or overqualified. However, as a Black American woman, I lead with the perspective to take up space and show why I not only belong but excel in this space and hope to open the door for more people of diverse backgrounds. While working in corporate America in the marketing field, I continually found myself to be the only Black employee at organizations. While I would like to see more diversity and inclusion, I never let it discourage me. Instead, I focused on doing my best work and being a team player. It’s easy to feel like you don’t belong in a room when you’re the only one there, but I am someone used to being the odd one out. I started college at 14 and recall doing my ACT and being the youngest among 18- and 19-year-olds. So when you’re competing on the same level or even higher as the people in that room, it’s all the reassurance and validation I need. I encourage anyone to remember that if you weren’t supposed to be in a particular room, you wouldn’t be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
After working in corporate settings and completing my Ph.D. in Marketing from the National University, I decided to shift my focus toward entrepreneurship. I founded an all-inclusive marketing company called ‘Reimagine Digital Marketing.’ Our team consists of five experts, including myself, who specialize in various areas such as social media, content marketing, video editing, graphic design, website development, automation, paid traffic, and SEO.

My Ph.D. dissertation explored why many small businesses fail within their first five years or continually struggle to market themselves because they lack marketing knowledge, personnel, and resources. Growing up in a family of small business owners and starting my own venture, I am passionate about collaborating with entrepreneurs and giving back to my community. This passion led to the creation of Reimagine Digital Marketing. In the short span of a few months, we have achieved success with our clientele. Notably, we assisted one client in increasing their monthly revenue from $8,000 to $43,000 in just three months.

I’m thrilled to announce that we are expanding our operations and establishing an office in Winter Haven, Florida. Plus, we will be hosting an open office party in January 2023, and we extend a warm invitation to all professionals, business owners, and entrepreneurs in Central Florida. The event will feature an open bar and engaging activities such as vision board sessions and marketing tips, offering a positive and abundant start to the new year.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe the three qualities/skills that have had the most profound impact on my journey are drive, risk-taking, and adaptability. These qualities are a crucial foundation because they constantly motivate me to persevere in the face of any obstacles.

During the process of completing my Ph.D., I had to navigate through a series of significant challenges, including the passing of my mother, heartbreak, and the onset of a pandemic. This accumulation of stress and tragedy could easily have caused anyone to give up on life and spiral into depression. Instead, I chose to view these misfortunes as valuable lessons and continued moving forward.

I started my first business, eventually earned my Ph.D., and met a wonderful man. We are now planning our wedding for next year. My most valuable advice for those in the early stages of their journey is to trust the process. If you genuinely desire something, keep going even in the face of failure, and be prepared to adapt, pivot, and start over when necessary.

How would you describe your ideal client?
Our ideal clients are business owners ready to put money into growing their business, starting with at least a $2000 budget. They understand it’s wise to let experts handle their online marketing, and they know this will help their business do well for a long time. They’re not just thinking about quick sales; they want to build a strong, lasting brand.

These clients also care about doing good things for the world like we do. We love working with people who want to make a difference, not just sell stuff. This fits with our work helping young adults aging out of foster care through our nonprofit, Alves Foundation.

Plus, our ideal clients understand how important online marketing is these days. They know that having a good plan for online marketing, using things like AI, SEO, and paid ads, is essential to stay ahead and keep up with the times. In short, we want clients ready to invest and work together based on trust and shared goals, aiming to do good in their field and for the community with their business and marketing.
