Meet Rhace Wylee

We recently connected with Rhace Wylee and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rhace, so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
I really like this prompt because I’ve had discussions previously with folks about this. Initially, I grew up a trouble maker in and out of school. I never liked authority and took everything with a grain of salt. I always did things for the thrill of it, I loved and still do love the adventurous feeling that comes with doing something you know you aren’t supposed to be doing, and I think that’s where my ability to take risk developed. The risk taker inside of me has always been there as long as I’ve been alive. It’s natural for me, I simply see what I want then figure out a way to make it happen. The biggest risk I’ve ever taken was around this time last year. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona from Fort Wayne, Indiana after spending the first 19 years of my life there. I made this choice in order to pursue music as my full time career. A lot of people told me I’d never be able to actually do it, but I didn’t listen. I knew what I wanted to do and I went for it. At my graduation/going away party with friends and family, I was asked by a lot of people if I was nervous at all. I had no reason to lie or anything, so I told them straight up like yeah, I have the natural nerves, but I’m not nervous per say. I’m confident in my abilities and my decision making to where risks like these just seem to come naturally for me. I’ve never desired an “ordinary” life in any aspect, so I think I just see things differently compared to a lot of people.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a musical artist, audio engineer, and songwriter currently based in Atlanta, Georgia but I am originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I moved to Atlanta from Phoenix this past August to create the music career I’ve always desired. I’ve been writing songs since I was 8, and recording myself performing my songs since I was 14. Music is my purpose, whether it’s behind the mic, behind the computer, or doing both at the same time. I’ve been mixing my own music as long as I’ve been recording myself as well.

I’m really running a business though; I have a website set up for myself which I do engineering services through and promote my music on too. My web address is rhacewylee.com!

Be on the lookout for plenty of new music and content from me, you can find me on Instagram/YouTube/TikTok/SoundCloud and all streaming platforms @Rhacewylee & on Twitter @M0R3THAN3V3R.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’d say confidence, consistency, and perseverance. If I were to give advice to folks on how to develop or improve on these it would just be to find yourself as a creative and never ever lose that person, especially as that person evolves. You’ll find confidence in knowing your abilities, consistency will sharpen your skills, and perseverance will keep you going when things aren’t looking good. Persevering builds consistency and vice versa, so really once you find your identity creatively you could focus on your consistency or perseverance and probably get the same results. Just don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t do something. If you want it, figure out a way to get it and go do it. It’s really that simple.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth/improvement in the past 12 months has definitely been my mixing. In the past year I graduated the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences with a Master Recording diploma for audio engineering. During my time there, I ran my first session(s) as an engineer and began really, really going to work at it since about April. My vocal chains on my old computer make me cringe every time I go back to see them, now comparing those mixes sonically and visually it’s a world of difference.

If you need your music mixed/mastered, email me at rhacewylee@rhacewylee.com or head over to my website and pick a plan!
