We were lucky to catch up with Leroy Sutton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Leroy, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
When I was 11 I was sucked under a train and lost both of my legs. That was a day that will live in my mind for all time. The day my world change I was forced to persevere through every challenge life handed me. Life hasn’t been easy but I make it look easy most of the time. I continue to pursue live, love, and liberty despite my physical disposition.
I look for deeper meaning in everything due to my ADHD diagnosis and undiagnosed Autism. I’ve continued to express myself through artist expression. The world is a wonderland… if you let it be. Mindset can change your world.
Despite everything I went through, I am working on a business. Entertainment has kept me out of the insanity that is the United States. I also want to press toward the future of education. School has not changed since it creation. It is time for something new.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am working toward creating a book/comic series that focuses on mental health. Character creation and world creation have been my struggles in that area. I own Modified Entertainment LLC trying to establish the storylines, world, and ideas. Remaining focus in chaos is a focus of mine.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Mindset, work ethic, and passion have been my greatest attributes. The best two pieces of advice I have:
Take advice from people in a position you want to be in. A grain of salt from people that aren’t.
When you feel down, breathe. You have to step back, sit, and breathe.
This allows me to improve and grow in every aspect of myself.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I get overwhelmed I meditate. Taking deep breaths calms my mind and body and prepares me for what’s next. If that doesn’t work I workout or stretch.
