Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Valeria Espinosa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Valeria, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
For over 20 years, I worked for corporations in Ecuador and Miami until I decided to change careers and became a certified Coach specializing in hormonal health. I aimed to study a field of her interest while raising my young children.
At the age of 44, I experienced Menopause in a natural and unexpected way. This life-changing experience, along with my coaching knowledge and skills, was the motivation to start guiding other women on their journey through Menopause.
My main purpose is to provide women with different tools and resources to navigate this transition stage, in a healthy and fulfilling way while promoting open conversations regarding menopause and midlife challenges, still considered taboo in our society.
“Since 2022, I have been actively working with women in 1:1 coaching sessions and live group workshops in Miami and Ecuador (my home country). The workshops are called “Your Magic in Midlife,” and more than 50 women have attended them. Through these sessions, I connect with wonderful women who are interested in learning how to navigate the menopause transition with knowledge, hope, and vitality.
This year, I also started a podcast called “Healthy Women” with a colleague coach. Every week, we release an episode where we talk about different topics related to health, lifestyle, and wellness. For 2024, the podcast will focus on interviews with women who are role models of leadership, empowerment, and determination in different fields, showcasing how they have found, sometimes through challenging events, their true purpose in life .”
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I was 40 years old when I decided to follow a new professional path in my life, and the three qualities and skills that helped me begin a journey in the coaching field were:
Good listener/empathy: This skill is critical to providing the best advice and guidance to my coachees to facilitate changes in their health, habits, and lifestyle.
Always willing to learn new things: I didn’t stop learning once I got my Coaching degree. I am continuously studying through workshops and seminars to gain expertise in different coaching areas that will enhance my practice.
Mentorship and guidance: I work independently, so I must be held accountable by other coaches or mentors who provide me with insight and feedback on how to take my practice to the next level.
My advice to other people, who are looking to change careers or who are already in the early steps of entrepreneurship, is to stay focused on their goals and not be afraid to ask for help from mentors or people who are role models for them. Always stay updated and remain curious about new developments in their areas of interest. Finally, be patient, as developing skills in a new field might take time, but it’s not impossible. Good things take time!
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
With two little kids, a husband, household chores, daily errands, and the demands of my coaching practice, I sometimes feel overwhelmed by all the tasks on my to-do list. Since this is a challenge for me, I use a few time management tools to overcome this situation.
Every morning, before I start working, I prepare a list of activities based on the ABC method, which divides tasks into “urgent and important” (A), important but not urgent (B), and less important (C). My main goal is to focus on the tasks under the “A” category. Once I complete them, I move on to the ones under the “B” category and, lastly, category “C” assignments.
Second, I started using a time management technique called Pomodoro, which involves 25 minutes of work followed by a five-minute break. Once you complete four consecutive work periods, you can take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes.
Finally, I use an app called Freedom, which allows me to block main social apps for several minutes/hours during the day, preventing unnecessary distractions.
All these tools allow me to work with more focus, complete daily tasks with a sense of achievement, and maintain high levels of energy for non-job-related activities. This helps me to establish a healthy balance between my personal life and my career.
