Meet Megan Lyman

We recently connected with Megan Lyman and have shared our conversation below.

Megan, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I have found my purpose from a lifetime of learning from obstacles that came my way. From fighting cancer as a teenager, to battling an ulcerative colitis in my twenties, I have always been driven by ways to help others through negative experiences and diagnosis. I knew from a young age I wanted to help people and that I was an educator. My motto has always been, ” it’s not why me, it’s try me”. The cannabis industry enter my life and in 2017 after moving to California to expand my knowledge and to live in a state where cannabis had been legalized, after healing myself with the plant and learning how to treat myself from the inside out using CBD, to it becoming federally legalized in 2018, I knew it was my purpose to help reduce the stereotype, promote and advocate for the plant that changed my life.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
perseverance: to keep going through all the highs and lows that running a business can bring. some advice that was given to me that helped me understand: any time you make money, tell yourself you made half of the amount and any time you spend money, spend with the idea the price is twice as much,

prioritizing: what’s important vs. what is not. some many things will come into your realm but it’s important to have the ability to discover what is crucial to your businesses success and what is more “busy work”. filled the first half of your day with the tough “hard to do things” and save all your not so important tasks for the afternoon. having the ability to making decisions in a timely manner is crucial.

balance: in the first few years you have to dedicate most of your time and energy to creating your dream into reality. but as business grows, I do believe it’s very important to find a work/life balance to achieve happiness and longevity in business. some tips that helped me from day one: train your customers to know shipping products takes time and take 2-3 days to ship….at the beginning you might have that product on hand the moment the order comes in but know that customer will then expect that same level of customer service/turn around time every time they order and that might always be possible as your business grows! same with responding to emails and messages, I have always tried to wait until 8am (even if I woke up at 6am and saw the message/email then) consistency is key and try and think long term

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
