We recently connected with Lacey Pruett and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lacey, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Helping busy women identify their individual superpowers to live a healthier, more abundant and fulfilled life became my passion after part of my life’s journey led me toward an unhealthy, fear-filled, and un-fulfilled mindset. It’s no fun feeling hopeless and stuck, but sometimes we make choices that aren’t aligned with our true being and desires. We listen more to what the world wants of us, and what the world’s standard is than what’s alive in our own hearts. Re-directing focus inward for a season can lead toward big comebacks and help a person ELEVATE (which is what my second book is titled.)
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Lacey Pruett is an Author & Speaker, passionate about helping women ELEVATE. Through her own journey from performing for others, feeling stuck and hopeless, to realigning with her true self, she’s tapped into a few personal superpowers and wants to help other women do the same. Through her journey (outlined in her first book–High Performance Detox) of stepping offstage for a season of self-awareness, rebuilding true identity, and re-assessing purpose, then finally stepping back onstage, confidently whole and performing her best, she feels with six simple awarenesses, women can start to ELEVATE into their true purpose and a more fulfilled way of life, no matter what roles a person chooses.
As a communicator, TV host, speaker and educator for over 20+ years, she’s built her brand and business around equipping women ages 16 to 60. Her coaching career gained momentum in 2012, when she served as Mrs. Texas United States, and shared more of her journey and healthy living awareness with a broader audience. She and her husband, Barnes, live in the Dallas, TX area, have a Doberman named Maximus, and a Corgi-mix named Samson. She also has two grown step-children, Taylor and Matthew, who live in the Dallas area. In her free time, she participates in animal rescue efforts around Texas.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Self-awareness — really knowing who you are, what you stand for, and what your non-negotiables are will help you navigate through the rocky path of entrepreneurship.
Make choices that give you options — the world is vast and abundant. Becoming aware of this will encourage better choices early in one’s life/career.
Breathwork — I learned how to breathe correctly at 30 years old. Most of the world doesn’t know about the power of breathing well and breathing through everything. Most of us are shallow breathers, moving through life at a pace not aligned with our core values. Re-aligning this boosts elevation!
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My critics and ‘mean girls.’ Part of my journey has been on-stage and public for a larger audience. This brings some people who aren’t kind, who say. unkind things, and who criticize my work. Though receiving this behavior stings, I’ve learned that each mis-judgement or un-kind word is a gift. Through growth and my own elevation, I see that each of these situations (and persons) sparked a new desire to stay true to my work and to myself. I became very powerful in my intentions and in my intentional actions and decisions. The decisions I make to rise up from anything trying to push me down are the decisions that have built my career and the person I am today. When I hear anything negative about me or my work now, I immediately think, “ok time to practice owning who I am.” I love it when this ‘light bulb’ is felt by my clients as well. There’s such power in our ability to use everything to rise up, life up, and ELEVATE.
