Meet Freydoon Rassouli

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Freydoon Rassouli a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Freydoon, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
Being optimistic is something we can learn and choose. The trick is to discover purpose and meaning in work and in life. I learned through my life that when I work and live with real purpose, I feel more fulfilled and better prepared to see what happens in a more positive way. Living this beautiful revelation has helped me discover and realize that the world is full of opportunity. It is far too easy to fall into doubt and assume the worst will happen. When you have faith that your life is truly being guided, you can take the journey consciously and with full confidence. The presence of pure love is what caressed my thoughts and anointed my vision. It helped me to dissolve my fears, and has been the guiding light of love that has shined upon the dark places that have appeared along my way. When the clouds of doubt and unknowing are lifted, love is what can guide us to develop the confidence we need.
Remember it is the bright and cheerful spirit that brings the optimism that can help you find the ultimate peace. The more you achieve an optimistic and trusting attitude, the more positive you are bound to feel about your life.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m an artist, an author, and painting and creativity teacher. Almost every one of my paintings, my books, and discussions in my painting classes are reflection from my heart. I begin my days and end my nights with the songs from the poetry of hearts, taste the flow of the rich bodied wine from the blood, from the silvery wine of the moon to the golden overflow of the sun and the clarity of pure wine from a source we are not able to name, for it will change as we speak of it and will become something new with every moment of our existence.

My paintings, writings, and talks are all representation of my life. Unlike most artists, I begin by coloring the canvas directly, without drawing or painting outlines or having a clear idea of what the painting is going to be. It is solely my feelings that drive me to paint or to write. Through my teachings, I intend to ignite a spark that becomes a catalyst for bringing joy of creativity into the hearts of people to reflect their lives and traditions in the creative ways.

I have inspired, invited, and encouraged creativity around the world through a process I call “Fusionart,” which activates the creative power of the heart, expressing the wonder and the sensual beauty of the soul.

I throw rules to the winds and dive into the moment and savor it. My excitement for the process affects and stimulates my students to do the same! I paint with rags, with my hands, and use my favorite brushes when I feel moved to enhance what is happening on the canvas. I usually begin with a canvas primed with black paint and bring the light of vision to it, developing a relationship with the emerging image as I progress.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
What has made me successful in life is the nourishment of good awareness and conscious care. Having a loving attitude, and the use of imagination is the key to success, especially in the future as “AI” replaces much of our manual efforts.

As you move forward in your life’s journey, use your imagination and trust your heart to guide you in achieving your own greatest vision of success. The most valuable tools you can use in your journey are your resilience and refusal to give up. Trust yourself and have faith that you are able to flourish in whatever you choose.

As you move forward with confidence, you will develop a substantial certainty in your heart. A warm feeling of confidence and an inner knowing that your direction is right will surround you. Be strong and develop the self-assurance that you’re capable of achieving your vision even if you have never done it before. Your step by step achievements will bring out the best of your abilities and instincts to accomplish the challenges that could come your way.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Life is made of challenges. A day without a challenge is not worth getting out of the bed. Know that there is an incredible power and strength inside of you that is seeking to express itself and manifest through you. This power does not come from your family name, your position in the world, nor is it about who you know. What is inside you does not come from how much money you have or what you own. It comes from the source of creation itself, and it is a flow that is always available to you.

Your challenge is to decide when, where and how you can best apply this power. You naturally know where you can be the most effective at what you do, and where you need more improvement. When you stand in your own strength and your belief in what you are, you will automatically know what you can offer to others.

Through developing a new and conscious intention, you can increase your vitality, your energy, your endurance and your faith in yourself. The more conscious you are, the more instinctive your journey through life becomes. Through connecting with your own natural inclination, you can follow your inner guidance and achieve your goals with confidence.
