Meet Riccardo Gresino

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Riccardo Gresino. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Riccardo, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

Thank you so much for getting interested in my life journey. Funny enough, my optimism is coming from a big love for adventures. I’m originally from Italy, since I was 13 I had to deal with an environment that didn’t encourage me to pursue a music career. My love and curiosity for this field haunted me for so long which made me decide to take the risk and jump on this incredible journey. Since then, I have experienced so many adventures that enrich me as a person and a musician. Every morning, I wake up with the excitement of learning and creating new things; this gives me optimism on approaching the next challenges.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a professional keyboard player and music director based in Los Angeles. So far, I’ve performed and recorded alongside established musicians such as Rubel (whom I worked with on his 2023 Latin Grammy nominated record “AS PALAVRAS”), SESSI, Anna Margo, Gianni Coscia (ECM Records), Kenny Sharp, AM Dandy, Tristan Simone, Gayathri Krishnan and more. In addition I’m also the Music Director & Keyboard player for “The Life and Music of George Michael” North American Tour 2024.

I love working closely with artists and taking care of the soundscapes through my abilities as a keyboard player. A strong characteristic of my work is the capability of processing the message of the artist and translating into sounds that portray exactly that feeling. Those can be harmonies, timbers, voicing and melodies.

I focus on serving the music more than showcasing or over-imposing myself. This is delivering emotions and that is the purpose of music.

I’m happy and proud to have become member of the Recording Academy and Mentor of the GRAMMY U program, this will allow me to inspire a new generation of musicians around the world.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Trustworthiness: People can always trust my work and reliability. This plays a huge role in my work and ensures that the job will be done smoothly and with consistency. This is also one of the main reasons why you get a call back after a delivery.

Troubleshoot: My dad is a great troubleshooting mechanic. Being around him made me familiar with a lot of problem solving and handy fixing work. I love finding solutions to problems that are coming on the way. This is a massive skill when you are on tour, gigs, recording sessions etc.

Genuineness: I love to have integrity to my good conscience. Caring and giving to others are strong components of my personality, but I always remind myself to set boundaries when I feel people are taking advantage of me.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I love to walk and I usually use it as a powerful tool to calm down or brainstorm my next moves. I usually go for a 15-20 minute walk a couple of times per week. In addition to that, I really love mountains and trails. Once a month, I challenge myself with 12-15 hours hikes with a high range of elevation. This connects me deeply to nature and fully recharges my creativity and energy.
