Hi Stephie, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
Growing up, my father played a pivotal role in shaping my ability to take risks. His constant push for me to exceed my perceived limits, while simultaneously making me feel I wasn’t good enough, paradoxically fueled my determination. Instead of succumbing to self-doubt, I turned it into a personal challenge. I realized that unless I tried, I would never truly know my capabilities. It became clear that staying in my comfort zone would only keep me where I was. So, I embraced the unknown, took risks, and discovered the incredible growth that lies on the other side of fear.
Throughout this journey, the encouragement from mentors, friends, and even strangers became a powerful force. Witnessing their genuine awe and admiration for my abilities provided a validation that went beyond my own doubts. Their belief in me became a driving force, reinforcing that the risks I was taking were not only for personal growth but also for inspiring others. In the end, the collective support from those around me proved that the journey of taking risks is not solitary; it’s a shared experience that brings about transformation and resilience.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
🚀 Here are three tips that have been absolute lifesavers on my journey, and I thought I’d share them in the friendliest way possible:
Bounce Back with Resilience:
Life’s got its curveballs, right? But here’s the secret sauce – every setback is a chance to learn and grow. Surround yourself with the cheerleaders, the ones who lift you up. Keep that positive mindset, and watch challenges turn into stepping stones to success.
Connect with Empathy:
Building strong relationships? It starts with empathy. Tune in, listen actively, understand different viewpoints, and connect. It’s not just good for your personal life; it’s a game-changer in any journey.
Stay Curious, Keep Learning:
Knowledge is your sidekick, and the best part? The learning never stops! Stay curious, be open to new ideas, and actively seek knowledge. Classes, experiences – the whole shebang. Continuous learning is the ticket to staying adaptable and cruising down Success Street.
And for those just starting out:
Roll with the Punches:
Life’s a rollercoaster, and setbacks are part of the ride. Embrace resilience – it’s your superpower to turn challenges into victories.
Walk in Others’ Shoes:
Empathy makes the journey richer. Connect with people, listen to their stories, and understand different perspectives. It’s a game-changer for both your personal and professional life.
Stay Curious, Stay Sharp:
Learning is your lifelong companion. Be curious, explore new things, and stay hungry for knowledge. It’s the secret sauce for long-term success.
Remember, your journey is uniquely yours. Keep it real, stay positive, and make th best out of the ride! 🌟
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Dealing with overwhelm can be challenging, but there are various strategies and practices that can help you navigate through the storm. Here are some ideas:
• Deep Breathing and Mindfulness:
Take a few minutes to practice deep breathing or engage in mindfulness meditation. Focus on your breath, bringing
your attention to the present moment. This can help calm your mind and reduce stress.
• Break Tasks into Smaller Steps:
When facing a daunting task, break it down into smaller, more manageable steps. Tackling one step at a time can
make the overall process less overwhelming.
• Prioritize and Delegate:
Identify the most critical tasks and prioritize them. Delegate tasks when possible, and don’t hesitate to ask for help.
Share the load to make it more manageable.
• Set Realistic Goals:
Be realistic about what you can accomplish in a given timeframe. Setting achievable goals prevents setting yourself
up for unnecessary stress.
• Reach Out for Support:
Talk to friends, family, or colleagues about what you’re going through. Sometimes, sharing your feelings can provide
relief, and others may offer valuable perspectives or assistance.
• Take Breaks:
Allow yourself short breaks during challenging periods. Stepping away from the situation, even if briefly, can provide a
fresh perspective and help you recharge.
• Establish Boundaries:
Learn to say no when necessary and establish healthy boundaries. It’s okay to decline additional responsibilities if you’re
already feeling overwhelmed.
• Physical Activity:
Engage in physical activity, whether it’s a short walk, stretching, or a quick workout. Exercise releases endorphins, which
can improve your mood and energy levels.
• Practice Self-Compassion:
Be kind to yourself. Understand that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed, and it doesn’t diminish your capabilities. Treat
yourself with the same compassion you would offer a friend.
• Seek Professional Help:
If overwhelm persists and significantly impacts your well-being, consider seeking professional help. A therapist or
counselor can provide guidance and support.
• Create a Relaxing Environment:
Surround yourself with a calming environment. Play soothing music, light candles, or spend time in a space that brings
you comfort.
• Keep a Journal:
Write down your thoughts and feelings in a journal. This can be a therapeutic way to process emotions and gain clarity
on the sources of overwhelm.
Remember that it’s okay to ask for help and prioritize your well-being. Experiment with different strategies to discover what works best for you during overwhelming times.
