Meet Darrell Smith

We were lucky to catch up with Darrell Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Darrell with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from my late Uncle Hezekiah and I developed it further by playing football. I learned so much about commitment, consistency and working hard from playing the sport. I believe that sports teach us the fundamentals of life. Like the football field was my workplace, my teammates where my co-workers, my coaches where my managers and motivators, and we all had a position to play that supported the team collectively. There was no room or place for selfish people.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am currently an A&R Consultant at Warner Music Group/ 300 Elektra Entertainment in addition to their Sparta+ record label. I am highly focused on on making an impact in the entertainment industry in a counter-culture way. I love working with and helping people make their dreams come true while putting profitable deals together. I love seeing people win at all costs -When the artist I am working with wins then I win as well. I am also doing a first product launch of artist Duke Deuce’s Crunkstar Christmas Club Live in Spatial Nation, a fully immersive, interactive digital environment where super fans will gather with artists and entertainers for shared experiences. It’s a really dope project and a first of its kind in the metaverse space.

As for acting, I will be appearing on the hit TV series Law & Order this season on the NBCUniversal Network.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on all of my experience, my best advice for people is to dream big, don’t place small, and take risks. You must believe that you can do it and push forward whatever your dream is. Don’t be afraid and just have faith. Be humble, build relationships along the way and take joy in serving others. Keep being consistent and you will be exhalted because consistency and hard work is the key. Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box at all. Do what makes you afraid.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
A ideal client for me would be someone I vibe with, someone who has a clear vision, someone who is willing to put in the hard work with no excuses. Someone who is not afraid to fail big either. These are the type of people I love to partner with.
