We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Michael Hiller a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Michael, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my parents. Both are entrepreneurs and CPAs. They worked very hard to start their business and have always been very determined and resilient which is what helped their business be successful for over 30 years.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Well my name is Michael Hiller and I am the President of Hiller Enterprise, Inc. I grew up in West Hills. I went to El Camino Highschool, was involved in coaching for Special Olympics and volunteered in the animal shelter in Agoura. I went to the University of Arizona for my Communications Degree. There I started a fraternity Sigma Alpha Mu. Once I graduated college, I went off to backpack through Europe. I am a Crohn’s patient; I was diagnosed a few months after returning from Europe. Hiller Enterprise has sponsored some Crohn’s & Colitis events as a form to contribute to this community that I am apart of.
After navigating through the professional world, I decided to start my own business. The inspiration came from my parents and my extensive background as a real-estate worker and working as a banker for Bank of America. After working for Bank of America I got my real estate broker’s license and accounting certification. I went on to work for a top 25 accounting firm. It was then were inspiration struck and I thought about all the Millennials that needed assistance in business setup, financial knowledge and investment strategy. Growing up with two CPA parents who have ran their family owned accounting firm for 30 years I decided it was time I start my own company to provide these services not just to Millennials, Families and Entrepreneurs. Alas Hiller Enterprise, Inc was born.

Hiller Enterprise provides entrepreneurs, real estate investors, families and individuals with 1 on 1 guidance to help establish a secure financial future. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most important qualities that were impactful in my journey were perseverance, time management, and faith. I also continued to work hard on my dreams and didn’t give up on them. Even when I failed I got back up again. I also tried to give myself deadlines and manage my time wisely and never lost faith in myself. I would just advice to never give up on yourself. No matter how impossible accomplishing that goal is you should always keep that faith that it’s possible to achieve whatever you set your mind to. I would also always remember this quote from Alfred in “Batman Begins” whenever I would fail or not reach what I wanted. I would remember what he said “Why do we fall, sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.”
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing they did was teach me at a young age to always fight for what I want. My parents like I mentioned are both entrepreneurs and would work really hard on their business to be able to provide my sister and I everything they possibly could to better ourselves. My dad would always say “education, education, education.” Both of them always pushed me to go to school and to do well in school. They gave us many opportunities to develop skills that would later help me out in the real world. They were always supportive of me and have helped me throughout my journey as an entrepreneur as well. They were my mentors and most importantly really big role models for me growing up. It’s because of them I embarked on this path and I’m grateful to have them both by my side.
