Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shane Thaxton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Shane with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I started working at the age of 12, my first legal job was as a print model for Elite Model & Talent in Atlanta, Young age has significantly shaped my work ethic as a business owner. The early exposure to the professional world instilled in me a sense of responsibility, discipline, and a strong work ethic. During those formative years, I learned the value of hard work, time management, and the importance of delivering quality results. The challenges and successes I encountered in my youth provided invaluable lessons that I now apply to my role as a business owner. The experience of navigating the dynamics of a comfortable workspace, meeting deadlines, and collaborating with diverse teams has honed my leadership skills and instilled a proactive approach to problem-solving. Overall, my early work experiences have been a cornerstone in developing the resilient and dedicated work ethic that drives my entrepreneurial endeavors today.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
With a foundation rooted in faith, I embarked on an entrepreneurial journey that led to the establishment of my own construction company. Dissatisfied with the corporate confines of my previous role in America’s corporate landscape, where I was denied the promotion reflective of my skills and potential, I made the bold decision to chart my course. Drawing on nearly a decade of experience in Insurance and Risk Management, I harnessed my expertise to navigate the challenges of the construction industry. This shift allowed me to recognize the boundless possibilities of working for myself, pushing the limits of my capabilities. Beyond the nuts and bolts of construction, I am a firm believer in the power of energy transfer and have woven this philosophy into the fabric of my business. Leveraging the company as a conduit for connection and empowerment, I utilize my resources and knowledge to not only build structures but also to uplift and educate individuals. My journey is a testament to the fusion of professional acumen, faith-driven determination, and a commitment to fostering positive energy in both business and life. Recognizing the importance of aiding individuals in the aftermath of unexpected events, Mystic Relief and Construction is poised to extend its services into a new realm of support. In response to the growing need for assistance in navigating insurance claims and maximizing recovery post-disaster, we are proud to announce that starting in the first quarter of 2024, our company will be offering Public Adjuster representation. The role of a Public Adjuster is instrumental in ensuring that policyholders receive fair and equitable compensation for their losses. With their expertise in insurance claims, Public Adjusters work diligently to advocate for the rights of the insured, helping them navigate the complexities of the claims process. By incorporating Public Adjuster services into our repertoire, Mystic Relief and Construction is taking a proactive step towards not only constructing physical structures but also aiding in the reconstruction of lives after unforeseen events. We are committed to standing by our customers during challenging times, providing them with the support and representation they need to rebuild and recover with confidence.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The success of my entrepreneurial journey can be attributed to a profound understanding of indemnity, faith, and resilience—a trinity that has fortified my path. In the world of business, indemnity represents not only the insurance principles I’ve honed through years of experience but also the ability to mitigate risks and navigate challenges. My unwavering faith, both in myself and in the mission of my business, has been a guiding light during moments of uncertainty. It’s the faith that fuels the courage to persevere when faced with trials and tribulations, urging me to never relinquish the pursuit of my dreams.
This journey has taught me that personal growth is inseparable from business success. Improving one’s personal life is not just a luxury but a necessity, as the values and character of a business owner are direct reflections of the enterprise they lead. The commitment to personal development translates into a business ethos that stands for something meaningful—a force that resonates with clients and employees alike.
In this dynamic ecosystem, the mantra “take care of your people, and they will take care of you” is a bedrock principle. Building a business is not a solitary endeavor, and the strength of a company lies in the collective dedication of its team. By prioritizing the well-being and growth of my team, I’ve cultivated a culture of reciprocity, where loyalty and dedication are not just expected but reciprocated.
Lastly, maintaining faith in the business is akin to keeping the engine running at full throttle. Trusting in the vision, the team, and the journey ahead ensures a steadfast momentum. Slowdowns may come, but with faith as a driving force, they are but temporary detours on the road to success. The amalgamation of indemnity, faith, and resilience has not only shaped my entrepreneurial triumphs but has become a philosophy that guides every facet of my professional and personal life.
