Meet Vicki Valery

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vicki Valery a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Vicki, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

It was something I endured in 2013. It was a pretty difficult time for me, I was experiencing an indescribable emotional and mental pain that I just couldn’t manage.

I started to read all the self-help books I could find. The Secret, The Four Agreements, The Alchemist, etc. I was so determined to succeed and not let whatever I was going through get to, or destroy me. I reached out to my mom, and she introduced another book, the Bible. And from there, I was and still am unstoppable.

The power to change your thoughts and make them into things is very special.

All my thoughts consisted of peace, forgiveness, happiness and remembering to be grateful. I’m here, I’m present and whatever happened was not a result of anything I did.

From that time on, I wake up every day with the same attitude and continue to strive for greatness. I’m happy, genuinely and that’s not something many can say confidently.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am the general manager at Soho Works by Soho House. It’s a co-working space designed to help creative thinkers and businesses come together and share ideas.

Works is undeniably cool; it’s the best place to work out of because it combines a stylish and functional workspace with a vibrant community, a calendar of events, and exclusive perks. It’s a place where you can be productive, connect with others, and truly enjoy the work you do.

One of the standout features of Works is its diverse range of amenities. Whether you need a private office, a dedicated desk, or just a cozy spot in a communal area, we’ve got you covered.

But it’s not just about the physical space. Works also offers a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about their work. This community really fosters collaboration, networking, and the exchanging of ideas.

It goes beyond just providing a workspace, we curate a calendar of events that range from happy hours, to panel discussions and wellness classes, just to name a few! There’s always something interesting happening at Works.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Be kind

Be patient

Be humble

They seem like simple qualities to develop but it’s not as easy to accomplish as you may think. But if you can truly grasp these three things, the sky is the limit.

People just want to be treated as human beings. No one person is more superior than another and at the end of the day, we all just want to be treated equally and with respect.

Lastly, stay grounded, never forget your roots, and embrace humility.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

This may seem cliché, but I have to say The Bible AND The Secret. I mention both because they simultaneously helped me get through a rough patch in life, and until this day has guided me.

The power of faith and positivity has gotten me so far and I am so blessed.
