We were lucky to catch up with Tiana Heath recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiana , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I believe my work ethic as a media host comes from many places. My supporters has always been a great source of motivation and encouragement. They instilled in me the importance of hard work, dedication, and taking pride in my work. I also draw inspiration from the people I interview, who often have amazing stories of resilience and success. Finally, I am constantly striving to improve, both technically and personally. It’s always a challenge to stay on top of the latest trends and technologies, and I enjoy pushing myself to become a better media maven.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Tiana Heath, better known as MsTeeTalk. I’ve been the host of my own interview series, Tee Talk, for over 10 years. During this time, I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing some of the most notable artists in the music industry, including Bobby V, 112, and Twista. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Radio and TV from Brooklyn College, and I’ve always been passionate about giving people a platform to express their creativity and share their work. Recently, I started a new project called Missing on Long Island, which is an investigative YouTube series that highlights strange disappearances and provides support to families who have lost someone. I’m so proud to be able to help people in this way.
I’m also passionate about helping upcoming media professionals gain insight into the media industry. I’ve started a mentorship program for aspiring media professionals, and I’m proud to be a role model for all those who want to succeed in this field. With hard work and dedication, anything is possible!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Knowledge of the industry: Understanding the film, television and digital media industry is essential for creating your own show.
2. Research the key players, the trends and the business of the industry.
Creative storytelling: Being able to tell a compelling story is one of the most important skills when creating your show. Learn the principles of good storytelling and apply them to the project you are working on.
3. Technical knowledge: Knowing the technical aspects of creating a show is also important. Learn the basics of cinematography, sound design, editing, and other related skills.
Advice for those early in their media career: Seek out mentors who can provide guidance and support. Don’t be afraid to take risks and experiment. Network and build relationships in the industry. Stay up to date with the latest trends and technology. Have patience and stay focused on your goals.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Over the past 12 months, one of the biggest areas of growth has been developing a strategy for what content to put out and how effective it is to my audience. I’ve been honing in on the types of content that resonate the most with our audience and creating content that is engaging, informative and entertaining. I’ve also been focusing on how to best promote my content to ensure it reaches our target audience. Through this strategic approach, I’ve seen great success in terms of engagement and reach.
