Meet Brittany Christine

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brittany Christine a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Brittany, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
As much as I hate to admit it, I believe my childhood had a lot to do with it. I am a child of multiple divorce, so we moved around a lot growing up. Because of that I was always the new girl in school. And most of the time, the moves were in the middle of the school year so friend groups had already been established. Meaning I was always stuck trying to figure out where I fit in and with whom. Most of the time it was with an outcast group. They were more excepting and easier to get into quickly without someone having to vet you.

Even though I’m a big time introvert I had to force myself to be outgoing and make friends fast for survival. I had learned from past family moves that if I kept to myself and didn’t let anyone get close, I became prey for bullying or other kids trying to rob me for my lunch money. So I’d say being thrown into a lot of scary social situations at a young age that were sink or swim helped make me resilient.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Sure, but I don’t really give myself titles or labels anymore, because #1 I don’t like to limit myself, #2 I really am more than just one or a few things, #3 what if I become something else completely different and even better tomorrow?

Hello to anyone reading, I’m Brittany Christine. I’ve worked my whole adult life in the entertainment industry. I started in fashion & photography, followed by foreign movies & TV abroad, then American radio & commercials once back home again, and now I’m moving more into the writing & directing side of indie filmmaking.

I can’t get enough of these mediums, it’s been such an exciting journey so far (to say the least) that I’m excited and looking forward to seeing how my career evolves more within all these fields.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Being empathetic, unique, and eager to learn.

When you can actually put yourself in someone else’s shoes, not only will you have a better understanding of the world around you, you will have more people that want to be in that world that surrounds you.

When you are unlike anyone or anything else, in most cases, you become more valuable, because your attitude, skill set, personality, whatever it may be, can’t be duplicated.

When you show great interest in something, I have found it does two things, both of which are very helpful. It attracts like minded people with similar interests to flock your way, and it gets rid of those who aren’t bothered with your passions to stay away.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking for more creative people to work with, and for.

For my own personal passion projects, I am currently hoping to collaborate with illustrators, graphic designers, cartoonists, puppeteers, and any other form of animation or motion picture artists.

For my day jobs, I am always needing to be hired for more on air or on camera talent gigs in order to fund my creative endeavors. I believe even the biggest of stars who have already, “made it” still have to do this too.
