Meet Jeremy Parker

We recently connected with Jeremy Parker and have shared our conversation below.

Jeremy, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I think self-esteem and confidence, at least in my own life, has come from a series of failures and attempts, and then more failures and attempts. It has been through this process of trial and error from which I have learned what my capabilities are, what my threshold for stress is, as well as my own self worth. All of these are very important things that we find ourselves relying on throughout our life. It is something that becomes more and more fine tuned as we live our lives and learn more about who we are and what our roles are in this world and what our roles are to ourselves. It can certainly feel like a painful and difficult process at times, but it is essential nevertheless. In my opinion, the surest way to develop character and develop your own confidence is by living your life in a manner that pushes you to try new things, pushes you out of your comfort zone and teaches you along the way.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I began my podcast, Sensory Deprivation, years ago as a random, episodic series of interviews with artists that have their own life lessons and stories to share. This led to the creation of my social media channels on Instagram and TikTok, @radiowithdrawal – where I highlight my music collection and love of vintage hifi. My social media channels have brought together other like minded people and has created a community where we are able to share our love of music and the memories that come along with it.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’ve always been persistent, if I set my mind on something I won’t stop until I have accomplished that. At times that can feel overwhelming but it has allowed me to create things and learn new skills that I never had previously.

Another skill is my fascination with learning, I am always reading and trying to fill my mind with new theories and skills that I feel can allow me to become more well rounded and helps me understand myself and my place in the world better. I feel like the more you try to expand your mind, the more open you become to seeing the world not as one specific thing, but as a series of interwoven experiences happening all at once.

Lastly I would say my blind confidence has certainly helped me in any endeavor I have been a part of. Whenever I have started a new project or business, I have never worried about the how, I just do it and figure it out along the way. If it doesn’t work the way I feel it should be, I adapt and try again. Being adaptable in all things and not letting failures stick to you is essential, Never be apart of something just because you want your customers or audience to enjoy it. Be apart of something because it represents you, who you are and what you feel like offering to your audience. That will create the most authentic experience and ultimately be more fulfilling for you in the end as well.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
There is a great book that I’ve found myself revisiting during times of struggle in my life called Mastering Your Hidden Self by Serge Kahili King. This book has given me important lessons on how to best separate the ego from yourself. It is a series of tips on how to better meditate, manifest your plans and come to terms with past traumas. I’ve found it very helpful in keeping me grounded and giving me insight into the importance of freeing your mind from negative thoughts and negative influences as well as the importance of trying to see things from all sides, not only your own.
