Meet Dr. Remi Jones

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Remi Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dr. Remi, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Developing confidence and self-esteem has been a transformative journey for me, and a pivotal aspect has been intentionally surrounding myself with individuals who consistently uplift and acknowledge my inherent value. The impact of a supportive social circle on personal growth cannot be overstated. Their encouragement, positive reinforcement, and belief in my capabilities have been instrumental in shaping my self-perception.

In the company of supportive individuals, I’ve found a safe space to express myself authentically. Their constructive feedback and unwavering encouragement have propelled me forward, fostering an environment where I can embrace my strengths and acknowledge areas for growth without judgment.

Equally significant in this journey has been the practice of kindness and self-compassion. I’ve learned to treat myself with the same understanding and forgiveness that I readily extend to others. Embracing a mindset of self-kindness involves acknowledging my imperfections, understanding that setbacks are a natural part of growth, and giving myself the grace to navigate challenges without harsh self-judgment.

through this journey I’ve not only bolstered my confidence but also fostered a deeper sense of self-worth. This ongoing process has become a foundation for continued personal development, reminding me that growth is not only about achieving external milestones but also about nurturing an internal landscape of resilience, self-love, and authenticity.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am Remi Jones, the CEO of Remi TV, a Rhode Island-based television show that explores topics ranging from fashion and health to business. My show features interviews with celebrities, solo entrepreneurs, and talented individuals, with a focus on highlighting underrepresented voices and culture shifters who are making a positive impact in the community. In addition to my role in media, I am the CEO of Remi TV Nation, a non-profit committed to community outreach projects that raise funds for causes such as domestic violence, mental health, and breast cancer treatment. Our latest initiative is a charity community award show celebrating local underdogs across 16 categories, including a non-profit award and small business achievement award. Notably, all ticket sale proceeds contribute to a job training program and clothing drive. The award show is scheduled for May 18, 2024, at the Providence Performing Arts Center, the second-largest venue in Providence, Rhode Island. We are currently seeking donors and sponsors to support this meaningful project.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that had a significant impact and that I would like to pass on are:

Patience and Self-Grace: The understanding that success is a gradual process and requires patience has been crucial. Giving oneself grace during challenging times allows for personal growth without unnecessary pressure. My advice is to trust the process and acknowledge that achievements take time.

Resilience against Negativity: As you rise, negativity may come your way. It’s essential to develop the skill of ignoring the noise and staying focused on your goals. Avoid responding to negativity impulsively, and instead, channel your energy into your endeavors. It’s a practice that becomes more comfortable over time.

Mastery of Craft and Industry Knowledge: Continuous learning and mastery of your craft are vital. Understand the industry you’re in, stay updated on trends, and be an expert in your field. This not only enhances your skills but also positions you as a credible and knowledgeable professional.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to embrace patience, ignore negativity, and commit to lifelong learning. These qualities will serve as pillars in your journey, helping you navigate challenges and achieve sustained success.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
Currently, I am grappling with the challenge of gatekeeping as I strive to contribute positively to my community. Despite my eagerness to initiate impactful projects, I am encountering resistance from individuals unwilling to share essential community resources, particularly grant opportunities. This hurdle poses a barrier to implementing initiatives that could significantly benefit the community.
