Meet Ryan Arthur

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ryan Arthur a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ryan, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I have conquered and overcome imposter syndrome by simply never caring about what people think of me or my work. Once I started creating because I was honoring my purpose, and stopped creating for validation, popularity, or competition, my imposter syndrome disappeared.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Ryan. I am a multi hyphenate, and multidimensional artist and creative. I make music. I’m a professional songwriter, actor, model, and digital creator. I am also a voice over actor and media personality. What I feel is most special about what I do is how natural it came to me. Working in entertainment is such a special thing because you get to control your narrative, and do what you love with whatever intentions you feel. For me, working as an entertainer, I’m constantly manifesting, and materializing my wildest desires. It’s almost like magic how I can write a song about landing deals, or love, and watching love come into my life (in all forms), or signing a brand deal. Or how I portray myself as a super hero in my latest music video, and then receive a ton of DM’s or messages from women all over the world who tell me I gave them the courage to pursue whatever they want. I speak my mind on my podcast because I want people everywhere to know that whatever it is you want to do with your life, you can do it. Forget about people, just do it.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My patience, attention to detail, and my sense of humor is what helped me get to where I am today. If you are early in your journey, I’d say stop the comparing. Focus on yourself, your brand, and your package so much that you forget about who else is doing the same thing as you. There are a million podcasters who also sing and rap like I do, but I’m not competing. I’m working and doing everything that I can to make MY show successful. That’s why I love that I have so much patience. I plant seeds and leave it alone. Things will happen when they are supposed to. And before you know it, you are laying in a garden of opportunity, all because you were patient enough with your career, brand, and yourself. Also, lighten up. People are so hard on themselves. Take it easy. I always say, if you did everything in your power today to help your career thrive, great job, and if you didn’t, chill out and try again tomorrow, fam.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Honestly, I’m looking for brands to partner with that make sense with my brand identity. I’m looking for an agent who can help me with landing deals and partnerships that make sense for ME. This way, while I’m in long or short term contracts, and I’m creating digital content with these brands, it doesn’t come off cringey, to both me, and my followers. I want to work with brands that are fun for me to create, this way it doesn’t feel like work. I’m looking for a solid agent that can take my 10+ years of modeling, acting, doing voice overs, and being a brand ambassador and take this thing to the next level. I love to work, but only when it’s fun and makes sense.
