We caught up with Elaine Glass, author, speaker and personal coach, to share a few of her golden nuggets to living an extraordinary life!
Hi Elaine, thank you for joining us today. We appreciate you taking the time to share your wisdom with our readers. Let’s start by discussing resilience. Where do you draw your resilience from?
I have developed my resilience by being courageous and taking on difficult challenges. I have seen positive results from facing these challenges, and that has greatly boosted my confidence.
That’s impressive. Could you share your process of gaining confidence in four simple steps?
Absolutely. Here are the four steps I followed to gain more confidence:
- Honor: I started by recognizing the importance of wanting to have confidence and made it a priority in my life. I honored this desire and acknowledged the vulnerability it took to pursue it.
- Admit: I then had to admit that something was not working in my life. Instead of ignoring the issues, I took a close look at myself and acknowledged the need for change. It’s important to confront the truth of our lives rather than looking away from it.
- Feel: After admitting the areas that needed improvement, I allowed myself to feel the emotions associated with those areas. This emotional awareness helped me understand what I needed to be courageous enough to address and take action on.
- Engage in life: Finally, I engaged in activities that required courage. To find the motivation for courage, I had to dream bigger than ever before. By envisioning a bigger future for myself, I was able to take the necessary steps towards becoming a more confident individual.
That’s a great process. Now, let’s talk about your work. What should people know about you and what you do?
I help people get unstuck and discover their most authentic expression. My goal is to guide individuals towards knowing the truth of who they are. It is incredibly rewarding to witness my clients’ beautiful transformations. They often come to me feeling lost, but leave with a sense of wholeness and excitement to create the second half of their lives. Additionally, my book “Get Quiet”, 7 Simple Paths To The Truth Of Who You Are, is available on Amazon or wherever books are sold. (Published by Hay House).
That sounds wonderful. If you had to choose three qualities or areas of knowledge that are most important in your journey, what would they be?
The three qualities that have been most impactful for me are:
- Listening: Actively listening is crucial in any situation. It allows us to truly understand others and connect on a deeper level.
- Mind-body-soul connection: Taking care of our mind, body, and soul is vital. Prioritizing self-care and self-reflection helps us become more aligned and better equipped to help others.
- Compassion: Having compassion for ourselves and others is essential. It starts with listening to ourselves and reconnecting with what truly matters. This helps us build a strong mind-body-soul connection.
That’s great advice. Now, when it comes to limited resources such as time, energy, and focus, would you prioritize focusing on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong?
I have experienced the benefits of both approaches. Initially, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to improve areas outside of my strengths, aiming to become more well-rounded. This led me to engage in activities that stretched me and helped me learn valuable lessons. However, I also realized that constantly pushing myself beyond my comfort zone can lead to burnout. So, now I prioritize doubling down on my strengths and operating within my zone of genius. This not only helps me avoid burnout but also allows me to make the best use of my time, energy, and attention.
That’s a valuable insight. Thank you for sharing your experiences and wisdom with us, Elaine. It has been a pleasure talking to you.
