Meet Shanice Parker

We were lucky to catch up with Shanice Parker recently and have shared our conversation below.

Shanice, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Since providing a service for nearly a decade, I have gained experience in facing adversity countless times. Each hardship I encountered, I persevered not too long after. Hardship has prepared me for each blessing God has given me. So, I see the perks of resilience.

I dedicate my gift to being able to carry out production through film and photography for those who need it. I know there is no time to fall victim to circumstances out of my control.

Nothing has or will deter me from achieving my dreams.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the CEO and Founder of Billz Productions, a New York City-based media production company specializing in photography and film.

Since launching my brand in 2014, I have spent nearly a decade in the industry directing, filming, photographing, and editing content for entertainment and client-based projects. One of my notable projects is my short film Benny & Chris, released in 2016.

Throughout my career, I have built a track record in the entertainment industry filled with projects covering prominent shows and events such as the West Side Story Movie Premiere (NY), BET Live Experience (LA), BET Hip Hop Awards (ATL), and Black Girls Rock (NJ).

In recent years, I have filmed and edited podcasts such as Smoke Champs and Let’s Take a Ride, featuring artist Fetty Wap. My work has reached over 20,000 views on YouTube.

In addition to the work I have produced in entertainment, I have also developed a diverse clientele varying from companies, business owners, influencers, and everyday people.

I have built relationships over the years that grant me opportunities to film marketing content for companies like Amazon.

My services are known for marketing projects, social media campaigns, publications, or highlighting special moments in someone’s life.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities I have gained that were most impactful in my journey are perseverance, faith, and poise. Anyone who wants to experience their dreams coming true must have those qualities. Even though I have not reached some of my goals, there are a lot that I have reached. Reaching my goals lets me know that I am on the right path.

The best part of gaining these qualities is knowing they come from one source, and that’s knowing your worth. Knowing your worth comes over time. Hone in on character building and knowing the field you’re in. You will gain trust in knowing that you are doing the best in the situation you’re in for you.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was be themselves. I appreciate my parents for being human. There’s no better gift than knowing you are the product of someone doing their best. I turned out to be an exceptional person through my relationship with them. I have learned to be graceful in any situation and be okay with the outcome. I know what it is to be human, that makes it easier to provide services to people from an understanding place.
