We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nadine Bubeck a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nadine, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Creativity is how I maintain my personal sense of self.
Before kids, I had plenty of time to invest in my career as a TV News Anchor. However, since having my first son, which I now have three, my heart switched gears, and I wanted to be more flexible and available for my babies. With that being said, I’ve always had that “other side” of me… the creative side, the side that loves story-telling, and the side that strives to show my kids that mom can wear many hats.
Over the past 10 years as my boys have grown from babies-to-kids, I’ve dappled in quite the array of endeavors- fashion design, TV hosting, blogging, writing books, PR, marketing and beyond. I’ve literally dreamt ideas overnight and sought to make them happen the next day. I’ve tried to omit all sense of fear or rejection; and instead, pursue my passion projects in a fearless, determined spirit. Doing this can be difficult, but you only fail when you stop trying.
In fall 2023, I acquired my most creative endeavor yet. I had been manifesting a new career direction, and timing and fate were on my side. Given my boys are now all in elementary school, I really needed a pick-me-up; something to reignite that inner flame of my sense of self. And so, I’m thrilled to announce I’m the owner/publisher of Paradise Valley City Lifestyle magazine, a monthly luxe/lifestyle print publication catering to Phoenix-Scottsdale. When I was a kid, I wanted to be two things: Katie Couric and a magazine owner. Fast forward to now… I’ve had my fair share of TV news years and now I’m running a magazine.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’ve lived in Scottsdale since August 2010 when I was the TV traffic anchor for the local CBS Morning News. Fast forward a husband and 3 kids later, life has become quite the adventure.
As a mom of three boys 10 and under, I’ve morphed into a lunch-making, taxi-driving, school volunteer who spends the school-year working until the clock strikes 3pm. You can find me on the sidelines at my boys’ sports games or tending to playdates. At night, I’m on homework duty, or can be found book-clubbing with my awesome neighborhood gal-pals. In the summer, we escape, as our family is all about travel and exploration, valuing making memories over monetary.
I am the owner/publisher of Paradise Valley City Lifestyle magazine. I’m extremely grateful to embrace this journey and return to my story-telling roots sharing carefully curated content. Paradise Valley City Lifestyle is a reflection of Arizona’s most thriving, desired and sought-after communities.
As AZ’s most stunning municipality, our demographic reigns on its exclusivity, affluence, charm and beauty. With iconic Camelback Mountain as a backdrop, we cover the loveliest elite desert oasis in the heart of Scottsdale-Phoenix. Given my media-rich background and passion for the publication, we have so much in store for 2024- awesome celebrity cover stories, engaging and enriching content, an elevated social media experience, …and more. Plus, because you can’t take TV out of the girl, I’m bringing each issue on TV every month! Follow us at @paradisevalleycitylifestyle on IG for more info.
On a personal note, thank you for your support and welcoming our mag into your homes and businesses. If you don’t already get the monthly mag, send me your address and I’ll add you to our distribution list! This community is my life. It’s where my kids were born. It’s where we have our village. It’s paradise found.
Also worth mentioning, I’m always dreaming up new ideas and endeavors. In fact, I recently launched Gift of Gab Kids, an innovative program that instills in kids the courage, confidence, and skills to be strong public speakers.
And finally… shoutout to my husband for being the backbone of our family and my rock. We have three boys: Nicholas, Zachary (Zaza) and Alex- my heart and soul; to me, life before them was only life leading up to them.
Nicholas, our oldest, is an old soul with a zest for adventure. Always down to try something new, super fearless, and a lover of art and music. He writes a monthly column for Epic Kids Magazine- check it out!
Zaza is our sports-obsessed middle boy with a heart of gold. A self-proclaimed animal whisperer who loves hiking, the beach, and snow. Never goes anywhere without a football and can throw a mean spiral.
Alex, our sweet and spicy tenacious “baby,” loves great white sharks, Iron Maiden, Transformers, and tossing himself in ocean waves.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When I was in TV News, one of my News Directors brought me in her office, looked me in the eye and said: “Nadine, you are fearless.” That word has stuck with me since, lifting me at times of despair, concern, contemplation, and self-doubt. It’s a word I resort to often, and a trait I hope to instill in my children: fear is a useless emotion.
I also believe in establishing, maintaining and fostering relationships. I’m still tight with people I worked with 10+ years ago… and even more so, mentors from when I was a college intern at numerous Bay Area (CA) TV stations. I am forever grateful to the people who have been there for me along the way. No one can do anything alone.
The last thing that comes to mind is being strategic. I’ve rushed into a lot of things throughout my life, often too excited to slow down and take things one step at a time. I’ve learned to be more tactful and thoughtful as I pursue creative endeavors knowing slow and steady wins the race.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
As the owner/publisher of Paradise Valley City Lifestyle, I’m constantly seeking to connect with potential partners interested in getting involved. I look for clients and business owners equally as excited as I am to collaborate.
I look for clients and business owners passionate about what they do.
I look for clients and business owners eager to get creative and willing to try new things.
I seek partners who are a fit for our audience/demo; but more so, a fit to become my friend. I take my partnerships very serious and value creating a solid friendship and foundation that will ensure both of us great success.
