Meet Shamara Jackson

We recently connected with Shamara Jackson and have shared our conversation below.

Shamara, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
When I think of ways of being creative, I think of how I can stand out from the crowd. I can say that I keep my creative side alive just by being myself and not trying to be like anyone else. Finding my own aesthetics and running with it. I’m a person who does not like the ordinary things. I can find something that I like and add my own twist to it. The same goes for running a business. You do not want your ideas or your brand itself to look like the next so having your own creative side or own look will help you stand out more.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hey guys, my name is Shamara. As of now I am a full time Pre-K Teacher. I feel that teaching kids is my first love, but running my own business and having my own business is something that I am highly passion about. What excites me the most about my business is being able to see the growth within myself and seeing new and returning customers and clients. Last September I did invest into myself by taking a brow tinting class. With that, True Beauty Palace now offers our first service so that is something that I am extremely proud of myself for doing.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As I look back the most three qualities or skills that I feel were most impactful to me were consistency, dedication, and overlooking the whole ” I need supporters. ” Consistency is definitely needed when running a business. There were times where I felt as if I wasn’t giving my business my all. Days where I found myself procrastinating, or not even in the mood to post about my business. Dedication comes to play where we have to realize that in order to get our business out for the people, we must be dedicated to the business. I honestly feel like it’s more of a mind thing so once you realize that and vision yourself and business at a higher level, you will put the work in. Lastly, when starting a business, we all want full support and supporters, it does not happen. I know now that support will come from all type of ways, we just have to put your brand out there for the people attention and things will flow naturally.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Why Yes, I am! Networking is very important to me. I know that in order to branch out and reach even more people I must collaborate with others who are in the beauty industry. I have collaborated with 4 different makeup artists so far. The experience was pretty good because we share and promote each other business. I would love to collaborate with someone who does celebrity makeup and just someone who loves to do makeup period with a good traffic following behind them.
