Meet Andrea Lovett

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrea Lovett a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Andrea, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
How did I find my purpose? I tripped and fell into it over and over again, getting steadily closer as I went along. I, unfortunately, have the toxic trait of being quite stubborn. Even though I was drawn toward teaching, helping people with their spiritual gifts, and reading people as a psychic medium, I fought it. I convinced myself that wasn’t the life for me, I wasn’t good at it, and that I could never support myself or my family as a psychic, let alone a teacher. My unbalanced ego was high during that period of my life and I spent a lot of time in fear. Too much time. 20 years of too much time.

I had always felt that I had a higher purpose and that I was meant to do great things with my life in the service to humanity. I just couldn’t figure out what it was. I spent so much time fighting the pulls and pushes of my passions, frustrated with myself and my life, that I almost missed it. It took a divorce, an 800 mile move, twice, and a global pandemic for me to stop fighting and allow my life purpose to unfold. Oh, and I had to do it afraid; very afraid.

Right before COVID, I bought a house, unseen and on faith alone, and decided I was going to fill up that house with everything I loved and that meant stepping into my gifts fully. No more holding myself back. New me. New life. Except I was still me and the fear wasn’t shifting.

The shadow work was REAL! I had to let go of everything I thought I knew about myself and trust that Spirit was going to catch me, that they wouldn’t lead me to it just to drop me off. Very hard for a fighter with control issues. I went out on a limb and made a few videos that I posted to TikTok, mainly because my Spirit Guides kept saying “TikTok” repeatedly. I didn’t even know how to use TikTok. My daughter, then 13, showed me while begging me not post on TikTok at the same time. She assured me I was too old for it.

My videos did well and on New Year’s Eve of 2020, my business took off. People were booking me to read them, finally! But my readings shifted and evolved quickly. Again, people were coming to me saying they wanted to do what I did as a psychic medium and they wanted me to teach them. Teaching. Again. There were so many people asking me to teach them that I started a session called the Gift Focused Session specifically to teach people how to use their gifts on a daily basis. This session went through many evolutions through the years, evolutions that I had no choice but to trust Spirit to guide me through. Two years later, I started a school to teach people how to be professional readers and healers without bias or fear. The Sweet Release Healing School for Readers and Healers took off faster than I was prepared for, just like my videos and the Gift Focused Session.

Today I just left a 4 hour meeting with my assistant and two teachers of my school where we discussed our expansion plans for 2024 and 2025. I have an expo in LA I’m flying to in February. I have my second spiritual retreated planned for April in Mississippi and New Orleans. How did that happen?! For me, finding my life’s purpose has been just like a trip and a fall, finding myself exactly where I needed to be. I listen to Spirit, I follow the nudges and my passions, and here comes another fall. I cannot tell you how excited and thankful I am for my life now because words for these feelings just don’t exist. All I can do is encourage you to trip and fall in faith too.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a spiritual teacher but I teach people how to use their gifts for the sole purpose of raising global consciousness and to set them free. I teach without bias or fear; it is not my way or the highway here. I never focus on how people receive spirit, because everyone receives differently and different beings will come up different ways. Instead I focus on teaching people how to use their gifts on a daily basis, for everyday modern life, their way.

I teach people one-on-one, in groups, and I have started a school with the sole intention of raising global consciousness through connecting people to their spiritual gifts. In the Sweet Release Healing School for Readers and Healers, we teach people how to use their gifts in their own lives and we teach people how to be professional readers and healers, focusing always on the goal of setting people free. My school is expanding, offering more classes and teachers for 2024 and into 2025.

This year will also be the first year that we start traveling to offer workshops, spiritual retreat weekends, and to attend different expos. We are so excited to be traveling to Los Angeles for the Conscious Life Expo in February and to Mississippi and New Orleans in April for a spiritual retreat.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
For me, my stubbornness, my compassion, and my trust in Spirit got me where I am today. I would not be here without them. My stubbornness ended up being quite the boon, funny enough. It wouldn’t let me give up on myself and it wouldn’t let me listen to people who said I couldn’t do it. My compassion allowed me to see different sides of myself and those who were afraid I would fail. I was able to see things from their perspective and detached from it. My trust in Spirit, even though I fought them for a while and complained, helped me to be able to try new things, even when I was afraid. All of these traits gave me the willingness to take not only the first steps, but every subsequent step along my journey.

For anyone out there new to their journey, my best advice is to just try it. It’s not always going to work out for you but that doesn’t mean it was a failure or that you are a failure. You are able to adjust and pivot. You are able to take everything that you have learned from every step along the path, even the missteps, and learn from them. You can apply them to what you are drawn toward doing next. I never worried about it being perfect because perfection does not exist. Instead, I gave myself the space to adjust if I needed to. This doesn’t mean i wasn’t afraid. On the contrary i was terrified through most of my journey but I was more afraid of how I would feel waking up every day to know I didn’t even try. Just try and see where the journey takes you knowing you are able to adjust when and where you need to.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents are wonderful people. My mother’s side is all spiritual people who use their gifts naturally for everyday life. We didn’t have words like empath, psychic, or medium. Instead, we were just normal everyday people who felt a lot from others and the world around us. I showed signs of having gifts very early in life and whenever I would talk to my parents about this, they never shut me down. Sometimes I would freak out my dad who was not used to this way of life at all, but my mother, ever the curious being, would ask me questions. She would have me engage all of my senses and look back over what I felt or experienced in a curious way. That curiosity is the cornerstone of Sweet Release Healing today. Without their encouragement and curiosity, I wouldn’t have the faith in myself to step foot on this journey.
