Meet Tricia Tanaka

We were lucky to catch up with Tricia Tanaka recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tricia , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Finding my life’s purpose has been my entire objective to living a fulfilled life. I continue to find my purpose as I evolve, with age, lessons, wisdom and awareness. My life purpose is based on what brings the most joy and happiness and that is being a creator. It allows me to share love, beauty and connection.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
The trials and errors of Tricia Tanaka, that would be the title of an autobiography. When asked a young age what I wanted to do when I grew up…and I would respond with being an Inventor. With academically strict Japanese parents, there was a compromise of being an inventor/artist, we settled on Architecture which eventually turned to a degree in Graphic Design. I use graphic design frequently, but found fulfillment in clothing design, home renovation/decor and other forms of art.

Through the pandemic, my clothing line lost traction like so many brands. I had the opportunity to explore other interest. I renovated my house, learned pyrography, acrylic pouring, resin, woodwork, macrame, and refurbishing furniture.

I am in the process of creating a business that incorporates all my skills. I would like to upcycle/recycle objects of all kinds from furniture, old canvases, left over wood from construction sites, pillows and old textiles. It’s ENDLESS. I’d like to help with the amount of waste in our world and create lost treasures.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Trial and Error…I have no fears about TRYING new things, PRACTICING and MASTERING. Failures are opportunities for improvement.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
Like most creators, business is not my strength. With so many platforms to self promote, I am building the courage to put myself out there.
