Meet Michael Tanaka

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michael Tanaka. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Michael, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Finding your purpose as a videographer and photographer is a personal journey. I started by reflecting on what aspects of storytelling and visual expression resonated with me. Starting with subjects that ignited my passion like travel lifestyle. I then explored various styles and techniques within my craft as a videographer and photographer which excited me. You can’t be afraid to evolve and adapt. Your purpose may shift as you grow and gain new experiences. Embrace the learning process and stay open to new possibilities. Ultimately, my purpose as a videographer and photographer is a journey of self-discovery, and each project is a step toward uncovering the unique mark I want to leave on the world through my art.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
In the world of visual storytelling, I’ve spent the last decade carving my niche as a videographer and photographer based in Orange County. From shooting breathtaking travel lifestyle to immersive real estate property tours, I have has seen it all.

Each frame to me is a canvas, and every project is an opportunity to capture the essence of a moment. It’s not just about pressing the shutter button, it’s about telling stories that resonates.

One highlight of my life so far was the inclusion of my short film, “24 Hours,” in the Newport Beach Film Festival in 2019. This experience not only reinforced my passion for visual storytelling but also ignited a drive to continue pushing creative boundaries.

Spreading the word about my brand involves more than just showcasing a portfolio. It’s about sharing the stories behind the lens and creating a visual identity. Whether it’s through social media, collaborations, or community engagement, every avenue becomes a canvas for me. With always doing my best to get the most cinematic captured shots.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe these 3 key qualities define my journey as a videographer and photographer.

Capturing the Moment: My eye for detail allows me to capture the best moments. From the beauty of a travel destination to the energy of a live event, I specialize in translating emotions into visual narratives.

Efficient Workflow: In the fast-paced world of content creation, a strong workflow is crucial. My ability to manage projects seamlessly ensures that every aspect, goes smoothly, delivering high quality results within deadlines.

Editing: Knowledge of editing is where the magic happens. With a deep understanding of editing tools and techniques I have been doing for almost a decade, I bring stories to life.

I’ve learned that growth is a continuous process. To master these skills, I believe in the power of grinding constantly, pushing boundaries, and learning from every experience. It’s through this dedication that true growth is achieved, ensuring that every project becomes an opportunity for improvement.
