Meet Rayhan Stapleton

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rayhan Stapleton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Rayhan , so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
Self-care is an effective way to learn who you are and what you like to do. I partake in self-care to dissociate my work life and my personal life. I find myself at parks walking and submerging myself in things from my childhood, such as swings, music, nature, and people in the community. When I’m indoors, self-care for me is self-expression. I like to paint whatever I feel and spend time with loved ones. The impact of self-care’s effectiveness as a creative is a better understanding of my community and what’s happening in it and a greater appreciation of life, even the tiny things.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Thank you for allowing me to tell my story. I’m a multidisciplinary artist specializing in modeling and video production. Being a creative means you’re a storyteller in your work. Your goal is to connect with your audience with your mediums. The most exciting part about my work is connecting with people in my community and inspiring others to grow and tell their stories. 2024 is a new year for endless opportunities. I plan to get into photography and dance, and I’m excited and blessed to see what happens with my work this year.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, my journey’s three most impactful qualities were being open-minded, warm-hearted, and resourceful. I remember my first photoshoot with no experience trusting the photographer’s guidance — yes, I was nervous, but stepping out of your comfort zone at a reasonable time is what can set you apart from others. Always be kind to everyone you cross paths with, especially those on your creative team. These connections you’re making now can be the key to even more success later in life. As a creative, being able to take nothing and turn it into something is another characteristic that will set you apart. Play with your environment and gain inspiration from what’s around you.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I would love to collaborate with other creatives, especially in Atlanta. People who are like-minded with the common goal of spreading awareness or creating work that can become timeless pieces. I also love the representation of my culture and want to work with more LGBT+ and Black photographers.
